| #1joebert88May 13, 2012 21:55:45 | I feel like a slight introduction is necessary; So, here I go.
- Hey, my names Joey. I thoroughly enjoy playing D&D and writing campaigns, and well I really enjoy reading and writing in general. I feel like D&D is like writing a book without characters, and the players magically enter the story and fill the pages, altering, shaping, and molding the world around them.
I've been putting a lot of work into several campaigns over the years, but recently I find myself ready to actually begin a campaign. A modern-day zombie-apocalypse, based in my current city.
I have a lot worked out, and I would really love to revisit this thread in the future. However, lets begin.
Currently I have a balancing issue that's making me hesitate on actually beginning. I have roughly 20 starting locations each of the players can choose from. Our first session I plan on having each player take 15-20 minutes to complete their starting area. Each location for the exception five areas will be relatively easy. I plan on having five areas that will be extremely difficult and will only be completed with strict precise decisions and proficient combat rolls.
The real issue is, What exactly should the reward be for successfully completing the hard starting area?
my personal ideas if anyone could comment on them or just give me their own ideas:
- Gain specific information/knowledge from the hard area (I.E. One hard area will show a special force team that deceives hundreds of living people that they are there to help them. Then after herding them, they execute them all. Showing that that specific Spec. Ops. team is essentially killing everyone because they think that's the only solution.)
- Allow the player to choose a primary attribute (STR,DEX,CON,ETC) and add a permanent +1 to the stat of their choice.
- Obtain an early strong equipment such as a military grade equipment (Automatic Rifles, Kevlar vests, Grenades, etc)
Most cases, It'll be +Information/+Attribute, or +Information/+Obtain Equipment. Not at all three.
Thank you very much to whoever assists me with this campaign at any time, I really hope this thread isn't an eye sore. I believe I will be beginning this campaign starting Tuesday, and i look forward to you guys' input right away. |
