| #1fey_felineJan 20, 2009 23:03:05 | Need help with backstory for these guys.![]() ![]() Daemonkin A race connected by diversity, united by uniqueness. RACIAL TRAITS Average Weight: 100-145lb Avg. Height: 5'2''-6'0'' Ability Scores: +2 Wisdom +2 Charisma Size: Medium Speed: 6 Squares Languages: Common, (Possibly Supernal) Skill Bonuses: +2 Arcana +2 History Astral Origin Wings-Daemonkin have mall, extendable wings. You can expand them as a minor action, giving you fly speed 6. Golden Eyes- You have the Gilded Gaze racial power. Gilded Gaze Your eyes glow golden, and, to your foe, keeping you pleased becomes priority above life itself. At-Will*Charm, Illusion Standard action Close blast 1 Target: One creature Attack: Charisma vs Will Effect: For it's next turn, the target attacks an enemy of your choice with it's most powerful attack, or heals you (if possible), your choice. It then also does half damage to you for the rest of the encounter. Appearance: Daemonkin resemble blue skinned, white haired humans. They have small, yellow horns growing from their head, and have thin tails with a wispy fluff at the end. Eye color is usually golden, though hectachromatic eyes are not unheard of. They live up to 200 years, possibly showing an elven heritage. Play a daemonkin if you want to: - Be a mysterious character with an unknown past. - To walk a fine moral line. - Play a race that favors the Paladin, or Warlock classes. |

| #3fey_felineJan 26, 2009 10:18:07 | Suck it. |
| #4darth_serenousJan 28, 2009 9:08:18 | I would say copy paste the Tiefling and change their skin color and one or two details... |

| #6vebrandssonJan 31, 2009 12:14:22 | This race is way overpowered, it has a fly that isn't even clumsy which is a huge advantage being able to snipe from the air. Its racial power is better than a power that would dominate untill the end of the target's next turn, which you don't see even in alot of higher leveled powers, and you made it at will. The lowest leveled dominate power I can find is a 19th level daily power. This race is so horridly overpowered its not even funny. |

| #9vebrandssonFeb 01, 2009 12:20:23 | Ok you want a fix, here is my suggestion trying to keep in line with what you have given what you have, which lacks any real flavor. For instance how does a daemonkin have astral origin (and actualy immortal origin would be the proper term) when the demons are in the elemental chaos and all demons have elemental origin? For the flight issue, replace it with "fly 6 (Overland)" thus the race can not take minor, immediate, or standard actions whyle flying. If you want them to have something like "fly 6 (clumsy)" then I would remove any real kind of racial power that was combat oriented. As for the Racial power, if you still want something that functions simularly I'd change it to a power that on a hit dominates for only a single turn, and then make the power daily. I would then make a paragon tier feat that replaces the daily version with an identical encounter version, then an epic tier feat that replaces it with an encounter version that dominates (save ends). Furthermore instead of Charisma vs Will I would make it Charisma, Wisdom, or Intelligence vs Will, and then have them choose when the character is created. Drow, Bladelings, Dragonborn, Genasi, and a few other races all do something simular. |
| #10NovacatFeb 01, 2009 20:46:51 | Also note that the Dominate condition is far less powerful than what is written in the OP version. When dominated, a creature can only take one action per turn, and can only use at-will powers, not "their most powerful power". That said, I would still consider domination to be borderline overpowered for a racial power, even if it's at-will. Making it a daily is a bad fix, in my opinion, because it's unprecedented in race design thus far. |

And though dominate is not what it used to be I can't find a heroic tier power that does it even on a daily frequency. |
