I realize that there probably is a Darth Vader in Star Wars d20. I wanted to do a small campaign in which a portal is found in the land owned by whomever and he hires the adventurers to check it out. They go through the portal and find themselves on the Death Star. I figured I would just grab minions/other enemies from the MM and recolor them as storm troopers and so forth. But I decided to make Darth Vader from many examples in the MM and from the Star Wars lore of Vader. I have never DM'd before nor made a monster before but I was wondering if I could get some opinions. Here is what I came up with.

Darth Vader
Controller
Initiative: Always goes first/+20 Senses Perception +25; darkvision
HP: 1000; Bloodied: 500
AC: 31 Fort: 30 Ref: 28 Will: 34
Resist: 15 Force
Vulnerable: 10 Electricty
Saving Throws: +5 against will and fort based attack/effects
Speed: 5
Action points: 2
- To make things simple all attacks have +24
- when fighting characters on an angle he takes a -2 penalty to AC and Reflex defence.
- Aura range 1 square causes -2 to will attacks and players will defence. but players must

make a saving throw at the end of there turn to negate affects when entering the auras range. but if the player leaves the aura and reenters they must remake the saves.

Light Saber:
- +2
- 1d10 Fire/Force Damage
- Forceful Sunder:
You use cutting power of this mighty weapon to temporarely sunder magic
Daily Power (Healing Surge)
At will free action
When making a melee attack you can add this power to the attack targeting the enemies

armor. This will effectivly nullify all magic of said armor for the rest of the encounter.
- Special: Can use any ability for attack and can be used as an implement

These stats don't really matter but I'll put them anyway.
STR 22
Dex 10
Con 26
Wis 26
Int 18
Cha 18

At Wills:

Forceful Strike (modified Barb 1 Pressing Strike modified)
Standard action
Target one creature
Attack Strength vs AC
Effect: Before the Attack, you shift 2 Squares. If you move through an enemies space you can choose to make a Wis +2 Vs Fort to slide the enemy
Hit: 2[W] + Strength modifier fire damage and push target 1 square

Force Choke (modified Warlock 1 Hellish Rebuke)
Standard action
Range 30
Target one creature
Attack: Wis vs Fort
Hit: 2d8 + Wisdom force damage. If you take damage before the end of your next turn, the target takes an extra 1d8 + Wisdom force damage and is dazed until the end of it's next turn.

Force Wave (modified wizard 1 Thunderwave)
Standard action
Target: Each creature in close blast/burst
Attack: Wis vs Fort
Hit: 1d10 + Wisdom modifier force damage,
Special: This power can be blast or a burst
Blast: you push the target 5 squares
Burst: you push the target 2 squares

Persuasive strike (I made it!)
Minor Action
Recharge: 1d4
Target: one creature
Range: 5
Attack: Wis vs Will
Hit: Targeted must use at will of your choice with a +2 bonus to hit

Encounter Powers:
Force Hold (modified Warlock 1 diabolic grasp)
Standard action
Target: one creature of huge or smaller
Attack: Wis vs Fort
Hit: 2d10 + wisdom force damage and slide the target 5 squares and it is immobolized save ends

Migraine
Standard action
Target: All in burst 4
Attack: Wis vs Will
Hit: 3d10 + wisdom psychic and are dazed save ends
Miss: half damage and the target is not dazed

I would recommend using monster maker or one of the other various monster generator tools, or at least take a closer look at the creation guidelines in the DMG. What level is he supposed to be? Resist the temptation to automatically make him level 30 or something unless thats an appropriate challenge for your players, or if this is just for fun and they will never actually fight him.

You have modified level 1 powers, but his HP are obviously way too high for a level 1 solo. And why a controller? I would go with soldier personally.

He is a Lvl 15 - 17 solo the hp is modeled after the Red Dragon of the same lvl, which I believe has 750. I modified lvl 1 powers just because I used the free character to look through at will powers. I think I modified to be fairly accurate for that lvl, but I did not think of the monster creator. I went with controller just because thats what his powers seemed to lean towards, he still has a formidable AC, fort and melee attack that is more inline with a soldier type.

I was moreless wondering if this seems like a fair solo boss for a lvl 15 encounter.

It looks more like a fair fight for a level 21 party. Your Vader is more in line with a level 22 solo red dragon. At most the party should only be fighting something 3 to 4 levels higher then them. Also, striping them of their magic items is a bad idea, their magic items are integral to the underlining math.

are you looking for suggestions? like how far to drop HP and stuff?

It's always so funny how Star Wars fans always make Darth Vader out to be much more dangerous and powerful than he ever was. Have you even seen the movies? When did he do anything even half impressive?

Oh, he could choke to death his own people from a distance... over a period of a couple minutes and no one so much as telling him to stop (only time someone did, he stopped). He can shoot down a couple rookie pilots, but isn't skilled enough to manuever out of incoming fire and continue shooting at his target or perceptive enough to see when he is being snuck up on.

Only people he can beat in melee combat are an old man who hadn't used his sword in 20 years and his son who basically had no real training-- and even then it wasn't much of a victory. He certainly showed absolutely no capability of using his ONE magic power (the choke thing) in the middle of a fight else he would have done it. He never displayed any ability to fly or knock several opponents to the ground, toss someone around in the air by sheer force of will, shoot lightning from his hands or deflect blaster fire with a summoned forcefield-- and he had plenty of opportunity to do so and would have helped him in the previously mentioned fights. In fact, only time he went against multiple opponents on his own he hid behind a bunch of Storm Troopers until they'd mowed down everyone and then walked in once there was no danger and strangled an unarmed man with his bare hands.

Overall, a pretty pathetic showing. It is a stretch to claim he is even level 5. He certainly isn't a level 21 force capable of mowing down whole armies single handedly.

Yes, however based on your post I may just leave him at lvl 21. That would give me more time to design the encounters and the death star as they are at lvl 2 now. Regarding the removal of magic on one of there items, this fight is moreless something cool and unique. Since it is a purely made up "Monster" if one of them dies I will provide an easy means of resurection, I will also do some modification on the fly if I realize the encounter is becoming to hard. Your input was appreciated, thank you.

If your going by the movies and based solely on what he demostrated during those movies then yes I completely agree. However, in the novels, comics and lore he was a master of the force and the light saber. His bionic suit gave him inhuman strength but also reduce mobility. That is what I am basing this build of Darth Vader, the Vader that distroyed the Jedi order many of which in single combat.
