Let me start off by saying i've been playing since 2nd, i hated 3rd but i love 4th.  Having said that, I think 4th is incomplete.  It has made some great improvements to the game, but has lost a lot in the process.  This source book is an attempt to do two things.  The first is to give characters an option when not wearing armor.  So many players will try to keep their armor on in social situations where armor is inappropriate, as well as try to sleep in their armor, and generally wear it 24/7.  I don't like the idea of a character going around food shopping in plate mail.

So this document lets characters take options that give them a bonus to ac when not wearing armor.  It also divides these into powers based on race and power source.  It's goal was to make the races have certain themes that help highlight their differences as well as make the different power sources feel more similar.

It also grants characters a bonus to their attack rolls so that they dont have to suffer the feat tax, but its not just a free feat, certain conditions based on race and/or power source must be met.

So this has taken me over a year to make, working on it a couple hours every week.  My players started using it a couple of weeks ago and while it was a little bumpy the first session or two, it's been working out great since then.

I'd like your opinions as well as feedback on this, and of course you're welcome to use it in your own games.  I'd really like to hear how it should be tweaked (as well as if there are any typos).   I intend to continue updating it (i've already made a bit of space for when the Dark Sun player's handbook comes out.), and I really hope some of you think this is worth looking at.

I will warn you, the flavor reflects my 2nd Ed roots.  Enjoy!

After a brief overview of the download of the ebook I must say I am impressed with the effort.  I will take a more detailed look when I have time.

I want to state that I haven't read through your source book yet.

I like that you are trying to solve an issue that I share, i.e. players wear armor al the time.  In the players defense (which you seem to recognize) a PC like a fighter or paladin is pretty useless without armor.

However, I really doubt I would implement a 100 page rules book to deal with the issue.  I wll still look through there to see if there are some simple fixes I can pull-out to help with the issue.

As long as armor has a purpose players will try to keap it on, Just like players who try to cary a pile of weapons simply becouse they might find a need for one. Pluss if you watch a lot of fantasy moves you see armor being warn during a lot of daily deeds, a possible fix would be eather  allowing armor to be summoned and dismissed as a minor action so they always have it handy like a weapon but not nessisarily on or perhaps impliment dress armor (armor that offers reasonable AC bonus yet looks more formal) a difrent aproach would be to remove the AC bonus and add a small damage resistence like 1 per tier of heavier armor or something though honestly players will probably still try to keap there armor on even if it is only marginaly helpfull

of cource there the other rout and make it hindering to have armor on during certain situations, weakened status if u sleep in it, negitive reactions if worn during inapropriate times junk like that. I find the issue minor at worst but theres a few thoughts as for the source book I compliment the efforts however it is to much reading for me and I like most of 4th ed as writen just that it needs to continue to add new races classes feats and powers as it goes to keep is fun
