Hi All,

Just seeking some advice on situation that has arisen in my weekly dnd Game. We play 4e rules (none of has have played anything else) We are all self taught on how to play so forgive me if somethings are wrong. I play a dwarf shaman however when I was escorting some prisoners out of the troll cave by my self (had to miss a week due to work) I got killed on the way back in. Now the DM and I thought instead of me re-creating a character we would have my shaman transfer his spirit to floating demonic skull I had picked up earlier in the campaign. So instead of a dwarf I am now a floating skull shaman. This wasn't going to affect game play too much because most of a shamans attacks are through his spirit companions. We took a few penalties such as my health is a quarter of what it once was. But what I am chasing is some ideas on new racial features since I am no longer a dwarf, One of them is that I now hover instead of walk.

I was also thinking of dropping my strength stat down to 1 and improving my other stats.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

While neat, sounds like too much of a hinderance.  I mean that makes you only useful in combat basically, since you'll still be able to use your attacks.  But here's the think, logically you really can't use any kind of equipment except probably head slot.  That also brings up the concern of wielding your totem.  Yes I know you can use your attacks w/out the totem but seriously, that puts you at total disadvantage with attack and damage.  Now of course you and your DM may work something out to attach the totem to you, but really you then would have no armor bonus to speak of so your AC would be 10+1/2 Lv+Dex or Int mod.

You then wouldn't be able to do anything but float and talk, can't carry anything, grab anything, nothing.  Seems like no fun at all to me but best of luck.

I'd say yes your Str would drop to 1 but I see no reason why your other stats should be increased just because your soul was moved into a floating skull.  I mean it's up to your DM, but there seems to me no justified reason to increase your stats just because you wished to become a floating skull instead of just doing a new character.  You then run into the fact that really at this point you are no longer a dwarf so I wouldn't even let you have any dwarf racial feats, no features, nothing related to being a dwarf.

Yeah, I'd just make your race Revenant and have the floating skull thing be a flavor issue.
