| #1hellfrozenoverFeb 17, 2010 15:06:48 | Well i thought i might share this idea with you's and help me pick out flaws , as the title suggests it is a war with demons trying to take over the world , with the chained god (im just going to call him the CG , and here is how i was hinking it would work -At heroic tier , the occasional demonic cult or demonic breakthrough -Paragon tier , more frequent breakthroughs , many goverments being corrupted , and at the end of the tier the players must defend a town from a demonic siege , first dispatching of corrupted officials , then hunting down a group of cultists and hoarding off the demons between paragon and epic , the characters are gone, only to be met by there deitys(melora , pelor ,ioun and morodin )and to be told what is happening , i.e the CG is breaking loose , demons are wrecking havoc and they are the only capable ones , -epic tier , the characters are rushing all over the place getting rid of demons , but their deities summon them again and tell them they found a way to end all of it , destrying the Cg altogether Their destiny quest - reach the bottom of the Abyss , preform a ritual , summon the CG and destroy him Overview of party The defender is a dwarf paladin the leader is a human cleric the striker is an elf ranger the controller is and eladrin wizard so long story short , that is the pcs adventure, one big campaign lasting all 3 tiers now where did i go wrong and how do i fix it |

What I mean is the gods, each have their globes of power but maybe the demon involvement is weaking their powe and influence. Because of these corrupt governments or leaders or what have you much of the gods former powers are deminishing in favour of the demons. Next, the few more powerful remaining gods can help you access "the end of the Abyss" by protecting you, guiding you, dealing with the demon lords, provided needed training and equipment, etc. I can see Pelor running at a group of Balors or even Orcus himself while "you go on ahead". Finally, the reason the gods need the players is because the gods power over the chained god is weakening. The chains that were formed by the magics of the old gods are starting to lose all effectiveness and that's why he is able to break free. If he is able to break free once then he can do so (and more easily) again. This set up would give an opportunity for the characters, who survive, to take up divine roles themselves. It's your choice if that means their new elite ops, or if you want to make them gods themselves or anywhere in between. (Minor additional suggestion; the gods were former adventurer's who defeated the chained god in the time before? Maybe not mortal adventuer's depending on your cosmology but something similar?) Anyway, hope this helps. |
