| #2wyld_mutationAug 22, 2008 17:06:21 | Supernal would be pretty powerful in a campaign where language mattered. And there is no point of "one other" if you speak supernal is there? |
| #3lolwatzorsAug 22, 2008 17:28:54 | They don't actually 'speak' to other races if they use supernal, its more like you can convey, 'yes' or 'no'. Its like, if you speak Latin, you might be able to pick up on a thing or two someone speaking Spanish or French says, but not the whole message. Also, in most campaigns, you have common, so Language doesn't matter... |
| #4wyld_mutationAug 22, 2008 17:32:03 | Except when dealing with the Goblin nation that doesn't speak commone. And if thet's how supernal works for them then the class looks mechanically sound. |
| #5UsagiYojimboAug 23, 2008 8:18:18 | I really like this. It seems like a good race for someone who wants to be the party diplomat but without making it unable to be useful in combat. Compassion is a cool trait. Good job all around. |
| #6Crimson_ConcertoAug 23, 2008 10:47:04 | Not bad at all. Good work. ![]() |
| #7tgncomicsAug 23, 2008 11:07:27 | i really like this race, all it's missing is a couple of feats. all around good work |
| #8halfricanAug 23, 2008 17:19:13 | I really enjoy this race! I can understand the lack of a racial power, but maybe even a relatively weak one would be nice. Overall really nice. Congrats. |
| #9UsagiYojimboAug 23, 2008 19:33:07 | I think things balance out right now, but if I played this race I would make a feat that gives them a racial power. Something like a Peaceful Aura that lessens damage or an expansion of the language thing where they can infer even more complicated messages. |
| #10lolwatzorsAug 23, 2008 21:15:30 | Thanks for all the responses, and the fact all of them are pretty much positive is good to boot. I designed them to not have a racial power, because the Dwarf as it stands now is the only race that doesn't have one. Its also important to note, they're human, not half-human or any-combination like that. 100% human as far as feats are concerned, so they don't have a sub set of racial feats to choose from. Though I'm not completely against the idea, I have it that way, for the moment, to prevent some people from trying to capitolize on something I've not foreseen yet. If I do come up with a racial feat, like "Tongues" or "Sublime Aura", I'll post it here, on the same thread. |
| #11lolwatzorsAug 25, 2008 2:24:35 | Also, I have the other PC races for this world already made up |
| #12wyld_mutationAug 25, 2008 8:56:07 | Pretty cool. However the old human defense bonus would probably be fine. (Giving up an abilitymodifier impacts far more than defenses) Why is the diversity limited? |
| #13halfricanAug 25, 2008 11:43:36 | OH! Rappelz! Yes? Well, me likes. Are you going to make Gaia as well? If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can disregard this whole post, but there's a free MMO out there that uses those very races. Nvm, I see Gaia down there! |
| #14HebitsuikazaAug 25, 2008 14:03:40 | These looks like really cool races, but it makes me hope you are pulling the Tiefling, Elf and Eldarin out of your game in order to add these races as the concepts kind of step on each other too much. |
| #15lolwatzorsAug 25, 2008 14:06:14 | To Wyld Mutation: The reason for the defense changes, is I don't like the idea of a human having a higher fort than a dwarf, a higher reflex than a halfling or a better will than a dragonborn. As for the feat thing, its to keep the human feat selectoin more in line with the starting feats given to other races. To Halfrican: The names are borrowed from Rappelz, and that really about it, the deva and asura are names taken from ancient religions such as Hinduism and the (can't remember the name) relgion of Babylon. If I were to rip of Rappelz directly, the Devan would have a healing spell by default and the Asuran could dodge by default. |
| #16halfricanAug 25, 2008 14:24:14 | Oh, that's not what I was implying, I was simply seeing if that was your inspiration. It's not every day you see another rappelz player. |
| #17wyld_mutationAug 25, 2008 14:25:57 | Maybe "Two defenses not based on the ability you added your bonus to"? The problem with their stast is that they only get a marghinal boost in any class they take. they're effectively 1 point behind on at least one defense, and likely one type of attack. The defense bonus shores up this weakness. Of course since your humans have a different flavor than vanilla 4e (which has humans as consumate survivors, and greedy for knowledge) you can get away with it. |
| #18lolwatzorsAug 25, 2008 14:44:09 | Also, there are fluff changes to the races. Dragonborn are magical creations, created by spell-casters (kind of like Raistlin), by magincally mixing human blood with dragonblood. Elves are wandering nomads who's homeland was destroyed by a war with the gods. And warforged are mostly unchanged from Eberron fluff, just new location and new look. ((They look more like walking suits of samurai armor)) |
| #19wyld_mutationAug 25, 2008 16:14:28 | Alphonse? Is that you? |
| #20lolwatzorsAug 25, 2008 19:34:11 | -.- Not quite like Full Metal Alchemist....though...I guess thats what he'd count as ~ponders~ |
