| #1logan459Sep 04, 2008 21:42:00 | This might be a quick fix to help create Dexterity based fighters until the Martial Handbook comes out in December. I'm just not sure if it should be a feat or an additional option for the Fighter Weapon Talent. The feat could be used by other classes, but would really need to be taken as your first feat so as not to cripple your character at low levels. (Assuming you have a higher Dex than Str.) The Fighter Weapon Talent might be better, but would obviously be limited to just Fighters, (where Clerics, Paladins, Rangers, and Warlords might want the option as well.) Let me know what you think.

| #3Kurama_YoukoSep 05, 2008 4:58:30 | you already need a high dex for light blade related feats... so being that type of fighter you'd already not be wearing heavy armor as it would just negate your dex modifier to AC, you'd still have a high str as str can be the deciding factor for your fort defense and makes a lot of your skills valid (Athletics mostly), I would assume a high dex fighter would be a light shield light bladed fighter with high str and dex, multiclassed with Rogue and possibly taking a Rogue PP. The Rogue powers you pick up will probably be the ones do things based on str regardless of the fact that you don't have artful dodger or brutal scoundrel. |
| #4Neutronium_DragonSep 05, 2008 5:02:19 | I think that you would be better off to create Dex-using exploits for those weapon groups rather than trying to make a generic feat or class trait, both because it's cleaner and because it's less prone to breaking things in unintended ways. |

I agree. That's why this is just a "quick fix...until the Martial Handbook comes out in December." To be honest, it would take a lot of work to come up with that enough Dex based exploits to make it worth while. Don't really have that kind of time. (Unless Wizards wants to pay me. heh.) |

Actually, right now he's a halfling rogue, but only because he is much more combat effective as a rogue than a fighter, (because of all the str based exploits of fighters.) As a fighter, he would get exploits at Paragon levels that benefit from his dex, but not until then. What he is as of now: a halfling rogue, dagger focused, planning on the Daggermaster PP, but is a pit-fighter by occupation. What I really want him to be: a halfling fighter, dagger specialist, with the Pit-Fighter PP, but taking advantage of a high Dex, not a high Str. Which means I'll probably be waiting for the Martial book in December... |
| #7squarecircleSep 06, 2008 19:38:05 | There's actually an article in Dragon (I believe) with a lot of fighter Dex-based powers, that also require light blades/longsword. They'd be a great fit. And the new Ampersand article has a few articles that encourage a Dex-based fighter, but you have to be wielding two weapons to take advantage of them. |
| #8logan459Sep 07, 2008 16:52:10 | I just read the Ampersand article. It looks really good and would be perfect for my halfling pit-fighter...except, all of the powers are still Str based. Still not what I'm looking for. Otherwise, it looks great. A lot of the powers and feats are from the Martial Powers book. (Which, unfortunately doesn't come out until December.) Also, which issue has the first article you mentioned? I can't find it anywhere. |

The powers aren't technically Dex-based, but you get a bonus to attack equal to your Dex mod (on top of the bonus for your Str mod). |
| #10logan459Sep 08, 2008 14:19:25 | thx for the link, but when I click to open the article, I get a blank page. wonder why... |
| #11alumanSep 08, 2008 16:54:35 | I couldn't tell you but I know thats the article from 366 for eladrin, so go find it. |
