I'm about to run the sample adventure from the back of the DM's guide. Does it make sense to use as many of the quest hooks listed as the players can find while talking to people? Or is it intended that I pick one hook and guide them towards that?

I like the idea of letting them find the hooks naturally by exploring the town first, but it seems like a lot of XP to dish out if they complete all of them. The plan is just to use it to get a feel for the rules before we jump into Keep on the Shadowfell. Any opinions?

It seems geared towards only using one hook.

What you can do is let them find whatever hooks they can, but limit the XP they get to 2-3,000 XP for completing ALL of them.

Given some of the complaints in another thread about the boss encounter in Kobold Hall, I'm now reluctant to run it at all, or at least not all of it.
