The damage ignores Evasion or Improved Evasion, since the character cannot move to avoid. Just thought I'd share with you guys, since I haven't been able to find anything similar. Admittedly I only did a cursory search though. |

See, by deleting your post, you've made my post look weird and out of place. To exact my revenge upon you for this, I am editing my original post, and responding to your post in my post, which is above your post. Your move, good sir. |

This is a less a house rule than stating the obvious - there are situations in any game where you have to void some of the damage or combat rules in favour of having a sensible result. 4E does this less than other game systems, and would probably just give the dragon Combat Advantage, or maybe count it as a Coup-de-Grace if the object was trly helpless. Of course a mean DM could also give the Dragon some special ability to Bite/grab . . . which would simply go into Mary Sue territory, as it is not necessary to boost Dragon powers much in 3.5 or 4E. I have to ask, OP. what happened to the poor character such that they ended up in a Dragon's mouth for this ruling to be required? |
| #5jackinthegreenJun 23, 2011 16:45:48 | I actually have no idea on whether this happened to a character or if my DM just said it in case something happened later on. I didn't join the group until it was level 7 average or so. My first thought is one of the clerics got grappled like that, but I think I would have heard about that. Clerics have always been this group's redshirts (having gone through at least three). I've thankfully survived quite well. |
| #6stargazer_dragonJun 24, 2011 21:26:26 | not happened yet in my 4.0 but 3.5 it was a relitivly common tactic for my dragons to grab simeone using a bite tactic then use breath weapon the trade off we used was the dragon auto hit the person in his mouth with extra damage and no save but the attack became restricted to the single target rather then the area effect. 4.0 I have yet to use a dragon in combat much to my players delights but I have ben concidering entering in a younger dragon as a oponent, Though I never did like how dragons were writen stat wise, they always try to spread the dragon out so almost any lvl could encounter them while i always reserved all but hachlings to later lvls as I put a lot of tactical effort into combats involving dragons and I do so hate killing the party lol |
