They may only be obtained from certain key campaign related effects. -Once an action point is spent, it is gone but returns after a short rest -Players can spend all of their action points each encounter. They function similar to encounter utility powers -Action points may be used like the iron vangaurd feature to take interrupt actions as well as actions on your turn. This is to encourage more "save your teammate" So basically lets say theres an epic level player running around and through quests he has amassed 3 action points. Each encounter he could use all 3 of them, and they would all return at the end of a short rest. Features that grant action points (E.g Battlefield Archer) would grant temporary action points that last until the end of the encounter but are not recovered with a short rest. Milestones would do nothing. My goal with this is to eventually use it to incorporate other Xorvintaal effects, and allow the main players to do more. In addition it would stop the action point conservation for solos/bosses. Does this sound viable? I am aware it will take more compensation for PCs to act a bunch of extra times, but how much will that change the balance of power? Are any paragon path action point buffs going to get ridiculously overpowered from this? Any variant ideas? PEACH is always appreciated... |

I would strongly suggest having all the PCs start out with 1 action point, if for nothing else to help prevent a rebellion in your party. Lastly there is an ability for a Bard Paragon path allowing the player to spend more than one action point per encounter, that ability should be changed to something useful. |

We're already a couple of adventures in, and the players have still continued to say "And I spend an action point to- waaait....Aww... ". I guess for the bard PP I could just make it work like the Battlefield Archer and give a temporary action point. Thanks for the quick reply. |
