| #1stargazer_dragonJul 16, 2011 4:45:01 | So the idea I wanted to use in my game was dragon touched monsters Basicaly the dragon uses a ritual to endow his followers with a sliver of his draconic power giving them special abilities or attacks. Was thinking of just making a list of difrent powers to quickly add to the followers Some ideas were, Explosive death- applied to mainly minions- When the creature dies it explodes burst 2 targets all creatures in burst doing lvl aproptiate damage to all targets that it hits targets reflex Breath weapon - works just like dragon born sept the damage is same type as the dragon that cast the ritual and it is recharge 5 not encounter Enahnced attack - there malee basic attack does extra damage of the same type as the dragons breath weapon Could use some other ideas for powers, the monster builder should fill the damage in for me. Non power features the template will give will be 1/2 lvl resistence to same damage types the casting dragon had, Could use some other features to add to them also. |

For example if it were a blue dragon, I wouldn't go for a Blast breathweapon but rather a Ranged arc. Likewise I'd give a black the ability to summon a cloud of Darkness. |

My goal is to have a large variety of powers so the party has no clue what the next creature will pull out of there hat. Most of the creatures they are fighting will be trained goblins that warship the dragon as there god, in return the dragon enhances the goblins to be better defence for his lair. The party doesn't even know about the dragon and won't for a while. They are simply there to dominate the goblin town. Anyhows |

Breath weapon: they spew forth a breath attack similar to the dragon that altered them (in this case a arc lightning breath weapon) Close blast 3 the bolt shoots straight and arcs to any target in the blast. Does 2d6 electric damage per tier Scales: the goblin has small but durable scales these scales are barely visible as they grow just under a layer of skin but if examined after the goblin is dead the scales could be discovered with a perception check medium difficulty. The scales grant a +3 AC enhancement bonus to the goblin Powerfull build: The goblin appears larger then a normal gobline Effect: the goblin is much stronger then normal giving him a +4 damage on malee attacks.
Need more ideas for powers some that have a distinctive feel. [Spoiler=Game details not really needed for the template] City details: The city is located deep in a cave, the entrance to the cave is a few floors above the city and is guarded by a small goblin outpost. The only traversable path to the cave winds up from the forest into the mountains and then down into a valley where the cave is located. Because of rock outcroppings and the angle of the path you can’t see the cave or the outpost that guards it until you are nearly on top of it. This path is patrolled by a band of ogres and many traps. The ogres are bribed by the goblins into patrolling the path and leaving them alone but are otherwise unaware of the dragon. Encounters First encounter I want to use will be a band of goblins, the leader of which I want to use this template, was thinking of using both the exploding ( explodes in bust 2 when he reaches 0 HP) and the enhanced weapons (able to coat his weapons in his blood granting his attacks extra electric damage) Second encounter, Trap that will lead into encounter 3 3rd encounter The ogre band. Again they have no clue about the dragon or that the goblins are enhanced they get paid in food, gear , and cloths. The ogers have no need for gold and are not smart even in the least. 4th encounter - wanted a seemingly natural avalanche (in reality it is another trap disguised as a natural event) 5th encounter - Another band of goblins this time already alerted by the traps of the heroes approach they lie in abash, I want to include a larger number of exploding minions as well as a group of ranged minions who use some other power. These goblins will also use a trap to hinder the pc’s before combat starts. 6th encounter - The outpost; The outpost will not be really alert as they are overconfident that there war bad will have stopped any intruders they do have active guards just in case but mainly they just wait for there returning war band. 7th + encounter will take place in the cave and I haven’t fully though of the others yet, will be many other smaller battles in the cave mainly weaker goblins before the party reaches the town, if the party stays in any place for long I will use a random encounter of a goblin parole who is out searching for the attackers alerted by the outpost during the attack on it. This is mainly to prevent extended rests. I am open to ideas for encounters as well as for powers [/sblock] |
