Druid as a controller?

It seems as though nobody has conceived a homebrew Druid as a controller class, and I'm curious why. I always thought of the Druid as the epitome of literal battlefield control, being able to command plants to entangle enemies or causing the earth to quake, bringing them to their knees. So far I've seen three well-thought Druids. One is a defender/striker hybrid and I'm not sure where I got it. One is a Leader type, but has a build that sounds like it would be a controller (and has the daily power Entangle); this one was designed by Saric on this board. The last is the Nature Priest previewed in Ari Marmell's Advanced Player's Guide, and that one is in fact a controller, but the two builds are animal conjuring and weather control. If nobody has or is coming up with a more land-control type Druid, I think those who have designed homebrew Druids should seriously consider a heavy dose of powers with that theme, or at least a geomancer paragon path.

Thoughts?

Controllers don't seem to be popular to play.

So non-controller homebrew is more common.

And it looks like Druids will be Strikers from WotC.
