| #2rampantFeb 09, 2011 1:20:19 | A taste for blood is a touch iffy. To use it you have to have selected one of the basic attack beast form powers, Why not make it it's own attack? |
| #3thespaceinvaderFeb 09, 2011 7:39:37 | What Druid DOESN'T have one of those powers? |
| #4SabelkattenFeb 09, 2011 9:08:42 | I think the point was that the power varies in usefulness depending on which power the Druid has. But since all Druid melee powers cause 1D8 damage it does seem logical to just make it a normal power: WIS vs/ Reflex, 1D8+2D6+WIS damage and knocks prone (might just make it 3D8 right away). I'm more worried about Red-Eyed Stalker - are there any other powers that cause Daze to such a degree? It does seem a bit high-powered to me, even for a level 20 daily... |
| #5luciusvonbrahmFeb 09, 2011 17:56:53 | I was modeling A Taste for Blood off an Opportunity Attack, but the idea was to give it extra potency, since it is an encounter power. Just giving you a triggered OA seems woefully underpowered for an encounter power. Why would you even select a PP with a power you can't use? Just take a different PP. In addition, Primal Predator is a prerequisite, and I've yet to see a predator build that doesn't have Grasping Claws or Savage Rend (some even have both). I really don't see that as an issue. I suppose I could just make it its own attack. Maybe that would just be easier. Simplifying it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Re: Red-Eyed Stalker I'll have to look. But there are dailies that have both an attack, plus effects that do bonus damage/attack and a handicap (prone, combat advantage, etc.). Since this is a daily that only gives the effect, but has no actual attack, I was thinking it might be acceptable. If dazed is too much, it could be something else. But there are already powers that knock prone, slow, cause the enemy to grant combat advantage and possibly others that I just can't think of right now. That's as an effect. That doesn't include the initial attack itself. I wasn't thinking it would be unbalanced to boost the effect due to the lack of an attack. What else would be a solid option? Druids already have so many ways to slow or immobilize that those seem a little bit redundant. I could limit it to melee, beast form powers. That would eliminate the close and ranged powers. Is that a bit more balanced? It'll cut back on the options you have to actually utilize it. |
| #6luciusvonbrahmFeb 09, 2011 18:17:09 | I revised A Taste for Blood and Red-Eyed Stalker. I lowered the potency of both, but I did add the keyword reliable to ATfB, but I also made sure it does a bit less damage than it did initially. I just think it kind of sucks to have a triggered power like that be wasted. It's not like you'll have a lot of opportunities versus a given enemy, but you may be able to use it later against a different enemy. And it only does +1d8 versus a beast form MBA. I don't think that's too potent. |
| #7SabelkattenFeb 10, 2011 1:23:50 | I like the change to ATfB - Reliable fits very nicely and is a good comensation for not being able to chose just when you can use it, while the damage+effect seem about right for a free (triggered) action. I'm not sure about the change to RES... It just seems you lost the duraction for the daze...? Anyway, if I ever get to play my current Predator Druid to level 11 this Paragon Path would be one of my first choices! |
| #8luciusvonbrahmFeb 17, 2011 20:44:44 | I'm not sure about the change to RES... It just seems you lost the duraction for the daze...? Oops! I didn't realize I cut that part of the text when I did the edit. It's still supposed to be "until the end of your next turn", just like it was previously. The big change is that I made it entirely limited to beast form melee powers. That keeps it a big more restricted than it was previously. And I'm glad you like it. I wanted something that fits my character I'm currently playing, but without being just a grab bag of goodies. |
