I figure that with the double sword being so good an option that this would be a good feat for most duel wielders that just don't like the flavor of the double sword. |

It kinda bugs me that having 2 different types of weapons is pretty much punished by the system due to proficiency feats, weapon focus feats, and expertise feats went and made it even worse. Atleast for the Rapier and Dagger combo they are both light blades. In most cases there seems to be very little benefit for dual-wielders in not going double weapon, or 2 of the same weapon, which is a real shame, cause it looks cooler IMO. I've seen an awesome pic online of an orc wielding a bastard sword and a waraxe, but 4 feats (not counting Expertise since i dont allow it) is pretty steetp, and whats he gain out of ? i guess the ability to spend another 2 feats at paragon for HBO and Deadly Axe. |

The only thing you want to avoid with this kind of thing is someone being able to stack it with all the other existing feats and become even more optimized. It would take a bit of careful study to decide exactly what would work well. For instance the suggested feat seems sensible enough to me for a rogue or maybe certain fighter builds, but there could be some builds that would get a bit crazy like piling TWD and TWF on top of this as well as going daggermaster, etc. I haven't done the math, but it might allow for 1 or 2 really nasty builds. |

I'm not quite sure about other people's tables, but i dont really have to worry about broken combos with mine, and we use a rediculusly high pointbuy, and people still don't abuse it. I've seen 2 avengers and tempest fighter, and they didn't go for any rediculus cheese.
If you have a player at your table wanting this feat, or if your talking to your DM about using it, just make sure your intent isn't to save you a feat to abuse stuff. Simple. |
