| #1brochachoFeb 27, 2012 8:29:55 | Hey guys! Me and my friends are thinking about starting a new D&D campaign but with a twist! In the distant future. I've looked everywhere online and I can't find any templates or anything so I think we may have to start from scratch unless any of you know of anything. We're looking to have a feel sort of like Mass Effect. Also, with some space combat via dog fighting in space crafts and things like that. also, we play 3.5 |

Also (probably gonna get yelled at for this one) look into the Star Wars RPG. There's some good stuff there and some interesting stuff on dog fighting. I like the ambition here but this is something that's not gonna be an easy tranfer... One problem your probably gonna run into is Tech V. Magic. mainly because how special is magic when u have technology that can mimic it in some form. |

Just seems to me that if you want DnD in space, it'd be more work trying to run a dnd into a total conversion than it would be to just pick up another RPG that exists in that genre with an already established rule-set and mythos. Also Gamma World and the D20 game system and its expansion / campaign addendum D20 Future. |

Sure you have to get new books and learn a new system, but it would save you lots of work. If your heart's set on it though, I seem to recall that there are a few scifi weapons (and possibly other stuff) detailed in the DMG somewhere. Also, you could check out the Spelljammer campaign setting. It has to do with sailing magical ships (i.e. boats) through space. |

| #9ajmuszkiewiczMar 27, 2012 11:35:16 | Yes, there is always Spelljammer. It actually received a pretty good update writeup in an old issue of Polyhedron (back when Poly was the last half of Dungeon magazine before Paizo took over both Dungeon and Dragon magazines). |
