| #1RolemancerFeb 06, 2010 17:50:48 | I am building a Dwarven Campaign set in the Forgotten Realms (not completely canon) in the East Rift area and will not be following the Living Campaign offered in that area. It will begin by being isolated from the surface world as the Dwarves sealed themselves in for over 100 years. The PC races allowed will primarily be Gold Dwarves and Shield Dwarves but I wanted to offer a few others to allow for some variety. For example, I was thinking about perhaps allowing Dragonborn, Genasi, Gnome and Goliath as PCs if they had a suitable backstory but they would be rare among the Dwarves. If the campaign expands into other areas, surface or otherwise, and if they can rally support from other cultures, then more races would become available as PCs later. It is in a very rough beginning draft stage right now, so any other additional input or links to other Dwarven Campaigns out there would be helpful as well. The question I have at this time is which additional races would you allow at the beginning and why or how would they fit into a Dwarven-centric storyline such as the one found below? Thanks! A Dwarven Campaign

Can't have these themed campaigns at all. Gots to all be whatever the players want, right? Seriously though, I think Dragonborn, Earth/Fire Genasi, and Goliath would be ok races to allow. Maybe one human, a descendant of a family that was sealed in with the dwarves or stayed behind because it was safer. |

If you want to play another race, come up with a convincing backstory why your non-dwarf character is hanging out in dwarfland. Also, when I ran an all dragonborn campaign, I let my players assign one of their +2 racial ability score bonues to any stat they wanted. This cut down on all the "I really want to play a wizard, but I'm disadvantaged because of your DM tyranny!" ![]() |
