In my DM'ing there are two races of dwarf-orc crossbreeds: the Dworcs and the Cwarves.

The Dworcs were created during the demons' capture of the orcs. They decided to improve the strength of the orcs to use in there armies. One of the ways that they did this was to breed Male dwarves with female orcs. This created a race that was faster than a dwarf but slower than an orc, smarter than an orc yet dimmer than a dwarf, stronger than both, and much uglier than both. The dworcs were stronger than the cwarfs but much dimmer.

My other Dwarf-Orc hybrid, the Cwarves, are weaker and slower than the Dworcs, but much smarter and better looking.

They fought against their will in many a battle, until the demons were defeated at Reflendrion. The Dworcs and Cwarves were free. But there battle for acceptance had only just begun.

Cwarves are a cross between male orcs and female dwarves.

I'd say statwise, give them a +2 to Constitution and Strength, +2 bonuses to Athletics and Endurance skills, +1 racial bonus to Reflex defense, make them have speed 6 (but like dwarves, they're not slowed by wearing heavy armor), low-light vision, and let them boost their speed by 2 until the end of their next turn when they use their second wind.

Um just to ask, why do you need two crossbreeds of the same race combination?

Orcs and Dwarves both have hieght, weight, and bulk differences between the genders. Plus, hybrids favor the mother.
#8

vebrandsson

Jun 26, 2009 12:21:38
Eh those differences seem more minimal in 4e, plus its not really necessary in my opinion to have two different versions of basically the same thing, and the whole idea of hybrids favoring the mother don't seem to be an issue with half-orcs, or half elves for that matter. I just see it as unneeded besides I don't see their racial abilities being that different.

Male lions both have a growth gene and the female tiger no inhibitor, but the female lion and male tigers have growth inhibitors. The Liger (scenario 1) is larger than either parent. The tigon (scenario 2) is smaller than either one.

And both are mules, meaning genetically unable to reproduce, and very rare, hardly something you wish to base a PC race off.

EDIT: I mean to be honest this reminds me of the 2e Orog and the Ogrillon, both crosses between on ogre and an orc, but to be blunt even in 2e no one could really tell you the difference much less care as they were too busy just sticking it with a blade.

Actually, the females are usually fertile. Males occasionaly.

Mules and Hinny are the same way.

I'm sorry but I highly doubt this else the term mule to mean a sterile crossbreed would not be so widespread. Besides I am personally glad things like the orog or the ogrillion are not back in 4e, all these contrived half breeds and redundant subspecies were quite pointless, which to be frank is my problem with the whole idea.

No, I didn't mean the fertility, I meant the favoring of parents.

There is another version that is a cross between a Maeluth(dwarf with fiendish ancestry) and a Tanarukk(orc with demonic ancestry).

They are called Tyrakoth

you are going to seriously try to sell to me that there are enough of those what ever you call it to constitute a race? What kind of jacked up convoluted world do you run? Seriously not every creature wants to fornicate with every other creature out there. You don't need a crossbreed for every bloody imaginable race combination out there, few are worth a second glance, even in 3e. I seriously hope I was not the only one who found bastards and bloodlines to be a farce of a book.

Obviously he's mad. I created this race to help me restart my D+D after a Month hiatus after 4 of the original 5 guys i DM'ed for commit suicide in the game. I added in some old favorites and created new ones. Trogs, ogrolls, dworcs, cwarves, Gnoblins, hobgnoblins, and others.

Although I will admit that the Gnoblins and hobgnoblins were done before I had thought of them.

Most were not crossbreeds. Quite a few were actually alchemically created. Although, not even a healthy minority.

I'm not mad man I just find your whole pantheon of absurd and contrived half breeds to be frustratingly and farcically ridiculous. I mean take the quoted post above, lets look at it logically. One what are the odds of a fiendish dwarf and a demonic orc meeting? Two what are the odds of them being of opposite gender? three what are the odds that they don't kill each other on sight not only because of the hatred between dwarves and orcs but also the hatred between demons and devils? Four what are the odds that they choose to produce a child? Five what are the odds that the child survives? and finally Six, what are the odds this happens often enough for there to be a race of these things? I just don't buy it, its ridiculous and absurd.

Come on, probabilities mean nothing when you're talking about LOVE.

Or wizards who can alchemically merge races...

They were created at the same time as the cwarves and dworcs. This was in the demon's army.

Maeluths in mine are more often of demonic ancestry than devilish ancestry. This is mainly why.

I didn't say they were a specific race. Rather, they are more like the tieflings of the race.

Wait, where have you been.

Around. The reason I haven't been contributing much is because you seem to have a pretty good grasp of these things, and I really didn't want to completely steal your ideas from you.

If you haven't read it already, Fireclave has written a pretty good guide to homebrewing races. It's well worth a read.

I never saw this post until now. They favor barbarians and slightly less warlocks as well as hellmasters, not really so much arthromancers, though they do a little bit due to the abyssal blood.

Although, they are good at it.

Don't be discouraged. They are powerful at it.

Wow.

This brings back fond and hilarious memories from twenty two years ago of a fellow named John Henry who created races such as the the half-elf troll and some sort of dwarf which had double-heels: made him more steady, see.

Yeah, I'm paying attention to this thread and a few others I've subscribed to as I trawl the forums, looking for stuff I can use in my own campaign. It's just that I can't think of anything helpful...don't worry, if I find anything I think you can use or have a sudden burst of inspiration, I'll drop a line. You've got some pretty good ideas—it seems to me all you've got to do is pull these ideas together, and flesh out the details.

Zargonvik are another variation. They are a cross between an Azerblood(Shield Dwarf with azer ancestors) and an Orc. They were created at the same time as the other 3.

Dorvangron: Tanarukk-Azerblood cross.

Zarginonse: A Dworc who has a gnomish ancestor on the dwarf side, hiding until him to show its influence. These guys would be the best of my Dworcs to be an arthromancer.

I like the Derro. A Duergar-derro cross would be extremely strong.

But a Durzagon-Derro cross is much stronger.

Derro cannot cross with dworcs nor orcs.

Derro aren't mine.

I'm wondering what the point is.

You've thrown out a whole bunch of weird crossbreeds, haven't bothered to stat a single one, and now you're asking if the forum community likes them.

I'm going to be frank. Chances are, your campaign doesn't need all these races. Your party is going to be what, 5 people? If you've made a dozen new races on top of the existing ones, there's a strong chance that most, if not all of them, won't even be used!

Don't expend the effort of doing a PC writeup of each of these races. Find out which ones your players are interested in, then stat those ones up. The others can just use NPC rules.

Most of the Teams are at least a 10 people, most allies.

Strangely, most of their allies are either women, or mercenaries.

To be honest though, I can't stat races.
