I was planning on doing this by adding the following to the Eladrin race description: At character creation, you may choose either Fey Step or Fey Glamour racial ability. Fey Glamour [Minor Action, Encounter] Close Burst 1; 1 Target you can see in burst Attack: Int/Cha +2/4/6 versus Will Hit: Target takes a -2 penality to Will against the next attack you make against it. If used out of combat, you receive a +5 bonus to the next intimidate, bluff or diplomacy check you make against the target. Special: At character creation, pick Intelligence or Charisma. This attack uses that statistic for its attack rolls. This attack receives a +2 bonus to attack in heroic tier, +4 in paragon, and +6 in epic. I also planned on adding the following feats. Fey Rapture (Req. Fey Glamour Racial Ability): The target of your Fey Glamour cannot make any attacks that include you as a target until the end of your next turn. Ensorcelling Glamour (Level 11+, Fey Rapture Feat): If a creature adjacent to the target of your Fey Glamour makes an attack that includes you as a target, the creature may make a Melee Basic Attack against that creature as an immediate interrupt. Will of the Sidhe (Level 21+, Ensorcelling Glamour Feat): Once per day, you may use your Fey Glamour as a standard action. If you do, the target of your Fey Glamour is dominated until the end of your next turn. Will of the Sidhe is very powerful for a racial, but it requires three feats and the loss of Fey Step, and isn't available until epic - you can get a dominate more cheaply (2 feats) by multi-classing. Is this balanced? I'd like to keep Will of the Sidhe as an Encounter, Minor Action, but I think that'd make it way too powerful. If you can think of another suitable epic effect continuing the theme of mental domination that would suit an encounter minor action, please feel free to suggest. |

| #4pluisjenJul 16, 2009 8:55:36 | Fey Rapture looks pretty powerful to me. I'd swap that to Paragon and bring Ensorcelling Glamour to Heroic, looks like a better fit to me. Also, I'd make Ensorcelling Glamour read like this: If a creature adjacent to the target of your Fey Glamour makes an attack that includes you as a target, the creature must make a Melee Basic Attack against that creature as an immediate interrupt, it is able to. If you give the decision to the creature, he isn't very likely to take that option, you'll have to force him. |

Perhaps one target in a Close Burst 5. Or just make it a flat out Ranged 5, and draw an OA if you try it while in melee. |

Yes, you could have a party with no decent will attack option, but wizard's certainly have a decent number of them. I'd think it would be quite effective for a orb wizard. Minor action Fey Glamour, then hit them with a vs will spell. Can probably be pulled off virtually every encounter. I'm not sure it is quite as good as fey step, but teleport is pretty kick-ass and fey step is arguably the best racial power in the game. |
| #7AndrewHJul 16, 2009 16:33:46 | Why is it a close burst one? That seems largely situational, if not unpleasant for ranged classes Partly flavour (the idea is the Eladrin is staring into their eyes or some such), and partly balance (there's a Level 1 Bard Power "Fast Friends" which is actually fairly similar to Fey Rapture - a bit more range, and a bit more flexible. I didn't really to want a racial to compete with a class power). Besides, for ranged classes, it's more of an "oh crap" power. Big brute's just moved next to me? Fey Glamour, and now I'm safe to sit there. Or I can move away without invoking an opportunity attack. Also, I might adjust Fey Glamour to be "the next attack versus Will made against the target" instead of "your next attack". |
