| #1Mist-BoundMar 27, 2011 5:09:13 | One of the original Racial Paragon Paths for the Genasi is the Elemental Tempest, which is capable of manifesting two elements simultaneously. However, since then, more elemental manifestations have popped up then the Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Storm of the original Forgotten Realms Player's Guide. Dragon #380 introduced the Corrupt Manifestations; Caustic, Cinder, Plague and Void, while Dragon #392 introduced what I personally call the Devastated Manifestations; Ember, Magma, Sand and Sun. So, I have a number of questions relating to them. Firstly, would you, in general, allow an Elemental Tempest to use their Dual Manifestations feat on either a Corrupt manifestation, a Devastated manifestation, or both? For example, would you allow an Elemental Tempest to manifest Air and Void, Sun and Water, Sand and Caustic, Plague and Void, or Sun and Sand? Secondly, for some reason, the Genasi of Athas came with no "Extra Athasian Manifestation" feat. Would you allow such a feat, or would you consider it overpowered? Finally, the Elemental Tempest's powers depend on its Elemental Attacks feature, which relates a specific type of damage to each elemental soul the genasi is manifesting at the time; Earth-Force, Fire-Fire, Storm-Lightning, Water-Acid, Wind-Cold. This means that an Elemental Tempest who is manifesting a Corrupt manifestation, Devastated manifestation, or both, is at a disadvantage. My thoughts are thusly to "expand" the Elemental Attacks feature to cover the new manifestations that WoTC has provided. The trick, of course, is assigning appropriate damage types to each elemental soul. Does anyone have any opinions? These are my instinctive thoughts on the matter... Causticsoul: Acid Damage Cindersoul: Cold Damage Plaguesoul: Poison Damage Voidsoul: Necrotic Damage Embersoul: Fire Damage Magmasoul: Fire Damage Sandsoul: Force Damage Sunsoul: Radiant Damage |

I'd peg cindersoul as fire and voidsoul as psychic, personally. Maye cindersoul as poison and plaguesoul as necrotic, but I don't think so. Personally, I'd also switch the water damage type to cold, but that being the official damage type and all... |

I think I would leave it as untyped. |

| #5Suzume_StjohnMar 27, 2011 14:28:28 | But voidsoul already resists Psychic, so that should be its damage type. There is no reason to change it really. Cindersoul could be necrotic if you really want that damage type included, it is about eating away an attack, so it makes sense. (That is if the resist fire doesn't ring any alarms as to the type of damage he should do) I'd leave sandsoul as untyped, adding a keyword is a big deal, and this manifestation has no previous mention of any keywords And as to your question, yes, extra manifestation covers all of the manifestations. Dual manifestation also works with any of the manifestations. It no where states that both the manifestations has to be air, water, fire, earth or thunder. |
