Epic Destiniy / Physical Transformation

I'm developing a homebrew ED for a Deva character, the basic concept is that the deva has managed to find a way to divorce himself from the internal battle for good and evil, becoming truly immortal, and never again worrying about being reborn . . . either as a deva or rakshasas. While the deva in question could be any alignment, it is somewhat geared towards neutrality/unaligned (since if he was good or lawful good, why not pursue a path to being one with the gods again, and if evil./chaotic evil, why not become a rakshasas?)

At the entry of the class, I wish to have a physical transformation to represent the separation from its former (and future) rebirths. I have the fluff of this covered; but I want a mechanical representation as well. I had intended to go with a permanent size increase (to Large), but I'm being told that is overpowered. It was suggested I add wings, but aside from me personally generally seeing wings as cheesey, it doesn't fit the fluff of the ED.

Any suggestions on some form of a permanent physical change, mechanically speaking, aside from size/wings?

Thanks!

Well Large size can be overpowered depending.  But it'd take you purposely building toward it.  I mean the advantages of Large size are:
More squares adjacent to you, potentially more opportunities for OA being made against enemies.
Get a bigger weapon, increase size so it does 1 damage die higher based on PH chart.
More squares so more places to attack enemies.

Yes those can be abused, but from experiences I've seen it's not extremely overpowered.  But I would just wonder why you'd bother with making the Deva Large in the first place, not sure how that would fit...but anyway!

Another cheesy option is a halo.  There's an epic in Divine Power, can't remember sage of wisdom or something that gives you a halo which sheds light.

That actually isn't a bad idea; though still not a mechanical benefit (a halo is just fluff/flavor) - it could be mechanical with an aura though. I'll toy with that.

As to the large being overpowered; the specific character in mind would get little benefit from being large - he is a lazy warlord. The only benefit would be extending his reach for commander's strike - and his direct the strike at will is almost as strong due to feats and whatnot.

The flavor behind the mechanics of turning the deva large was to show how imposing/epic the character had become. It wasn't in there for any benefit to my build, but as something I felt fit the flavor of the ED.

But I think an aura of sorts would work, as long as it is fairly weak...

The large size was a minor thing, I just wanted _something_ to show a physical transformation, beyond the fluff of saying it had happened... as a point of fact, large size did nothing for my particular character.

As to your ED mashup; the only draconic incarnation I can find is the power gained from the avatar of IO class; yet you say you're blending avatar of IO with draconic incarnation (and eternal defender) - is there something I am missing?
