Mystic

GAH! The format did not translate well... well anyhow, here are the complete rules for the Mystic in Heroic Tier. What I'd appreciate more than anything else is a critique on how balanced it is -- especially in light of its role as a "melee controller." Thanks!

Martial and Psionic Controller: You have perfected your body and mind, reaching beyond flesh and grasping the energy that flows within. Mystics command the battlefield with their incredible speed and devastating techniques.

Key Abilities: Dexterity; Strength, Wisdom

Flurry of Blows seems a little too complicated of a power; also a little too powerful.

The Improved Unarmed Strike feature basically gives you free magic items ... it breaks the economy of the game.

You could make the ki focus an implement, and then the monk is allowed to use the ki focus's enhancement bonus and stuff with unarmed and monk weapon attacks.

Also it is missing a feature that gives a decent damage die to his fists.

Except that, good work, this is awesome!

You know how Essentials Assassin has those different guilds which give you different choices of weapon powers? I think that would be a good way to implement the different styles (Centered Breath/Stone Fist/Fallen Needle) to this. Thoughts?

@ Ferdil:

Flurry of Blows is powerful but it's meant to keep the Mystic up to speed with the Mage (who gets dailys and a large variety of encounter powers which control large groups of people). The ability doesn't seem any more complicated than the Kensei's Weaponsoul Dance to me.

Improved Unarmed Strike is meant to keep the "improvised weapon" choice legitimate, otherwise every Mystic would choose a weapon to use as a ki focus and the unarmed mystic would be an unoptomized choice every time.

The fists do not need improved damage dice as they would probably be used as implements all the time, and Perfect Strike replaces all Melee Basic Attacks.

@ TardyClock:

That sounds pretty cool; I'll think about it.
