| #1aran_kellDec 11, 2008 23:42:37 | my party is level 6. they have just defeated their first dragon. the party includes, among others, a cleric of the Raven Queen. Said cleric is being played as a bit of a chaotic/evil sort of miscreant (though his alignment says unaligned) he is given to random acts such as leaving enslaved villagers to their fate, stealing chickens from farmers, and pilfering sacred runes from the village wise man. he also left a nearly-hatched basilisk egg in the Burgomeister's house in one village that he passed through. needless to say, the Raven Queen is unamused by the type of attention that he is drawing towards her. Come next week, the party is fresh from the battle with Aragor, the Gray Hunter (young gray dragon) when the slain form of the dragon begins breathing again, and his dragon heart beats loudly from an artifact that Aragor kept on him. After some gloating banter about cheating death, and of how their arrival was foretold to him, he threatens to renew the battle with the party. At this time, the sky swirls with darkened clouds, the world grows dark, into a faded twilight of itself. The ruined keep they had been fighting in twists and crumbles into a gaunt skeleton of itself (Arcana or Religeon of 15 will reveal that the area has been pulled into the Shadowfell. Thunder cracks the heavens, and the party realizes that they are not alone. Chronepsys appears, looming over Aragor, and overpowers Aragor. he rips the artifact from Aragor's chest, and crushes it. Aragor's newfound breath rushes from his body, and he falls dead once more. the cleric (with a religeon check of 15) recognizes Chronepsys as an Exarch of the Raven Queen. Chronepsys (who pulled the area into the Shadowfell to thwart Aragor's attempt at cheating death) then addresses the Cleric, informing him that he is being put on notice. The Raven Queen is tired of his antics, and he is being placed on probation. If he fails to prove himself a worthy follower of her order, she will declare him Anathema, and more pious clerics of her order will be on the hunt for him. he cryptically hints that the Cleric will have the opportunity to prove himself in the coming days, and that his deeds bear the deity's scrutiny. With that, the world seems to twitch with an audible rumble. The sky is at once light, and Chronepsys is gone. The party returns to the material plane, and Aragor's body petrifies, and proceeds with his environmental diffusion. anything I've missed? any suggestions for how to roleplay Chronepsys? any printed material I should consult regarding Exarchs and their abilities? |
