| #1scion_of_the_eternalJul 31, 2008 23:15:21 | I feel inspired lately so I think I'll post a setting of my own. Nothing revolutionary, though. The concept has been made some years ago and not aimed for DnD specifically, so some adjustment needs to be made. Well, whatever. Here we go. Legends say that we are not from this world. Our Predecessors once lived in a different world. There, they built a magnificent civilization, led by The Architect. But, it was The Architect's wish for a bright and perfect world that led to The Catastrophe. What was truly happened, has been forgotten, or even hidden from us, for fears of possible repeat. Something went wrong with The Architect's Design and The Predecessors along with their world suffer from it. That world became inhabitable, forcing them to forsook it and took an Exodus to another world. That's how we now live here, In Exodia, Lands of Exile. In this world there are two major continents, Fafnir and Fasolt. Fasolt, the more densely populated of the two, have most of its landmass lies in the northern hemisphere. Except in the north, which is close to the polar region, and the south, where swamplands and barren lies, its climate is mostly temperate. Compared to Fasolt, Fafnir have harsher climate. In the middle of it lies a great desert. Not the entire continent is wasteland, though. Jungles and savannahs exist in along the northern coast. More to the south raise a mountain range, greatest in whole world. The world is divided by the conflict between the Successors (humanoids) and the Akuma (monstrous humanoids). Enmity between the two has gone for a long time, dating back to the days of Exodus. The Successors are races that—as told by the legends—are descended from the Predecessors, the denizens of The Lands of Origin. Human The harsh condition of the earlier ages has prevented humans from rising to glory until recent centuries. The most prominent human city is the industrial city of Vastok, located in the foot of the northern highlands of Fasolt. Despite it colder climate, the northern highlands is rich in minerals, giving the humans building blocks for their civilization. Vastok eventually became the capital for a new nation of humanity, The Aldioré Federation. But humans are not just limited to Aldioré. Throughout Fasolt, there are many human settlements that is independent from Aldioré. And in the desert of Fafnir, a tough tribe of humans wander through its barrens. Eladrin Graceful and aloof, they once the held the widest and strongest dominion in Fasolt, but, events in recent centuries, including major wars with the Akuma, has caused their decline. Their dominion has been reduced greatly in size ever since. Yet, they are still as majestic as they can be. For they built their center of civilizations in lands floating in the sky by natural magic from times forgotten, The Foreheavens. Nereid (new race, post their racial traits later) Nereids are a race that lives mostly underwater, but, they are able to live on the surface as well. Their population consists of mostly female with male being very rare. Their skins, hair and eyes have a distinct shade of blue. By means that are more magical than physical, Nereids can move freely underwater even when clad in constricting clothes or armors. For the purpose of navigation underwater, they have senses that is heightened underwater and eyes that can see even in the lightless dephts. They posses gill on their neck that is barely visible when they are out of water. Hidden under it are organs that they use to produce a unique, melodic voice to communicate with others underwater. They cannot use it out of water. But, they can use their mouth to sing a different, yet equally beautiful, songs. A lot of aspects of their culture, including magic, are associated with music and singing. For this reason, people call the sea where they dwell, the Sea of Songs. They are capable of reproducing asexually. Though they can also cross breed with other humanoids. I’ll add more later. |
