| #1UndrhilDec 04, 2008 22:11:00 | Fallen "I have sinned and fallen short of the glory of my god. May I find mercy in the field of battle!" Prerequisites: Paladin; Cleric; Channel Divinity (CF) The Fallen is a member of a religious group. For reasons known only to the Fallen (and her religious group, presumably) her god is no longer smiling upon her. She has lost faith but is striving to regain it. Fallen Path Features Divine Rebuke (11th Level): When you use your Channel Divinity class feature, until the end of that encounter, all of your Divine powers are at -1 to attack. Any powers with the radiant keyword do an additional 1d4 radiant damage on successful hits only. Fallen Action (11th Level): When you spend an action point to make another action, you may spend a healing surge to gain +3 to your speed until the end of the encounter. You do not gain any healing from surges spent this way. Retribution (16th Level): You can spend a healing surge during battle to allow any one adjacent ally to heal. You cannot use this for yourself and you only heal half of the healing surge value for allies who do not worship your chosen deity. If you have used your Channel Divinity class feature during the encounter, they get the full healing surge value instead. Fallen Prayers Fall from Grace Fallen Attack 11 Your sword seems to gleam less brightly. That doesn't stop it from hurting your foes, though. _______________________ Encounter ✦ Divine, Weapon, Implement Minor Action Melee Target: One enemy in range Attack: Wisdom vs. AC or Charisma vs. AC or Strength vs. AC _______________________ Hit: 1[W]+STR modifier damage. Special: If you have used your Channel Divinity class feature in this encounter, this enemy gains +2 towards attacks made against you until the end of your next turn. Penance Fallen Utility 12 You repent of your sins and pray to your god for redemption. _______________________ Encounter ✦ Divine Standard Action Personal _______________________ Effect: You recover the use of any encounter power of level 7 or lower which you have used in this encounter. Special: If you used your Channel Divinity class feature during this encounter, you may only regain the use of this power through an extended rest. Absolution Fallen Attack 20 You feel the smile of your deity once again upon you; your sword seems to be unable to miss. _______________________ Daily ✦ Divine, Weapon, Implement Standard Action Melee Target: One enemy Attack: Wisdom vs. AC or Charisma vs. AC or Strength vs. AC _______________________ Hit: 3[W] + STR modifier damage. The enemy is knocked prone. Miss: The enemy is dazed. Effect: You are invisible to this enemy until the end of your next turn. Sustain Minor: You remain invisible to the enemy (save ends.) Special: If you used your Channel Divinity class feature during this encounter, you gain a bonus to attack of 1/2 your level for this attack only. |
| #2thazerdedelmarcusDec 04, 2008 22:47:29 | Fallen I don't know if its cause its late at night or what but for the level 11 attack it seems to read that the monster gains a +2 to attack you when you use this power. If I read that correctly then, WTF? and sounds useless. the other powers were the character has to match their deities alignment, this will not be a problem for the paladin as they have to be their deities alignment. The retribution feature lacks utility and I feel does not mesh well with the flavor text you provided. A paladin/cleric of pelor who is fallen, can't heal another party member who also worships pelor. And since they are trying to regain their grace why wouldn't pelor let his fallen servant heal his faithful servents, if they are indeed on the path to regain his favor? |

If I read that correctly then, WTF? and sounds useless. That would be the "Your deity is no longer smiling upon you" bit ... tough it out. It's a challenge your deity has placed before you. If you survive, your deity will like that. It builds character (or characters, I guess.) the other powers were the character has to match their deities alignment, this will not be a problem for the paladin as they have to be their deities alignment. They do? I must have missed that. I'll have to figure out a different mechanic/gimmick then. Any suggestions? The retribution feature lacks utility and I feel does not mesh well with the flavor text you provided. A paladin/cleric of pelor who is fallen, can't heal another party member who also worships pelor. And since they are trying to regain their grace why wouldn't pelor let his fallen servant heal his faithful servents, if they are indeed on the path to regain his favor? Yep. This was that whole "it must be late at night" thing you mentioned earlier. I meant that as "You cannot heal them if they don't worship your chosen deity." or something similar. I'll fix it. ![]() Thanks for the catch. ![]() |

| #5UndrhilDec 05, 2008 7:11:38 | I find it interesting that they gain a bonus to non-Divine keyword powers, yet all the abilities of the PP have that keyword. That's supposed to emulate their deity frowning upon them. I suppose I could have done a -1 to their Divine keyword powers, but that would be frowned upon as well, I bet. |
| #6fenrisrolfeDec 05, 2008 10:21:32 | Overall I like the flavor, but I'm not sure about Divine Rebuke. I can certainly imagine several striker builds that might multiclass cleric/paladin and take this PP just to gain the benefit of a flat +1 for their attacks... |
| #7UndrhilDec 05, 2008 12:08:40 | Overall I like the flavor, but I'm not sure about Divine Rebuke. I can certainly imagine several striker builds that might multiclass cleric/paladin and take this PP just to gain the benefit of a flat +1 for their attacks... Hmm ... perhaps I should make the Requirements be "Paladin or Cleric base class only"? It would make more sense for the flavor text for it to be only allowed for a non-MC Paladin or Cleric. Certainly, it would mean that Divine Rebuke is less useful, then ... because all of the Paladin and Cleric powers are Divine. So, unless they were a half-elf or had picked up the non-Paragon multiclass powers, they would never get that +1 to any attacks. I need to rethink that power then, as well... EDIT: I made changes to Divine Rebuke and Retribution. |
| #8fenrisrolfeDec 06, 2008 11:16:17 | Yeah, I see what you mean about the -1 ![]() Maybe since Divine Rebuke is supposed to represent the displeasure of their deity, it could be tied to Channel Divinity somehow? Maybe just keep it the way it is, but it only takes effect after they use Channel Divinity and then lasts until the end of the encounter. Then at least the player will have some control over when that -1 kicks in. Also, if you really want to limit this to just cleric/paladin, then consider adding channel divinity to the requirement. Many PPs have class feature restrictions (ranger, rogue, etc.) and currently only cleric/paladin have channel divinity. |
| #9UndrhilDec 06, 2008 11:52:12 | Thanks for the idea of tying it to Channel Divinity! I didn't even think about that! I made some adjustments to the powers now, as well ... the Special: clauses reference whether or not they used Channel Divinity before using the power. Does it work? |
| #10fenrisrolfeDec 06, 2008 12:26:24 | Now the only other problem I have is Fallen Action. You might want to add the word 'may'. Fallen Action (11th Level): When you spend an action point to make another action, you may spend a healing surge to gain a +3 bonus to speed until the end of the encounter. You do not regain health points for surges spent in this way. |
| #11UndrhilDec 06, 2008 13:05:49 | Sounds good. Changes made. Now (as I said with my Gambler PrP) if only I had friends to play D&D with and a high-enough level character to try out this Paragon path. ;) |
