| #1undraveNov 23, 2009 0:28:34 | So I have the ol' BESM d20 book and it includes the class 'Sentai Member' and I've been meaning to get my friends together and DM a Super Sentai game for them... problem is that BESM d20 works off the 3.0 system which I don't know anything about (and especially not how to make monsters which would be the main thing with a Sentai game ya know?). So I figure I could make up some rules and easily use 4e. For exemple characters can't get to their class power unless they transform, magical item bonus would just be automatic with levels (so they can make their weapons appear with their gear) and any power with 'Implement' would be flavored as being used with a blaster. Now some classes wouldn't be allowed (Beastmaster, Shaman, Druid, possibly Warden and no Summoning powers allowed) and I got most of the stuff figured out (I can just eyeball the rest). I would also allow charge off a leap (no limit to the number of space one can move with a leap either). It would be set in modern time but I would just handwave that only special weapon can hurt the bad guys who come from another dimension! So I wouldn't actually need to stat out guns you know? There is just two thing: 1) combination attacks. A classic mainstay of Sentai is formation attacks where members help one another. I'm thinking, beyond the usual 'Aid another' action to come up with a series of special encounter power that you can only use when using Aid Another in one way or form (like let the attack daze the victim, or increase damage when helping someone leap etc) but have them set up so you can only use one encounter 'Aid' per ally. I need a few ideas for those. 2) the Giant Robot. You gotta have a giant robot! I could easily stat the giant robot as another character and just run it with a different scale (Enormous is now medium, etc) but the problem is that 4e sucks at 1 on 1 (though I guess I could make the Robot an Avenger? :p) and it would suck to only have one character controlled by the whole party ya know? I need some suggestion. I'm thinking of maybe making more than one Robot like back in Liveman when you have the first three control the Live Robo and Black and Green control Live Boxer... though I'd need a way to combine the two robot into a third giant one that still makes things interesting... hmmm... So you guys got any tips and ideas to help this dork? |
