Basically the idea behind this, is to convey a little more fey into our Fey Origins races. This feat for example follows a great deal of mythology (or at the very least fantasy novels of many flavors) about the beauty of the Fey being such that it can actually blind or disorient you. |
| #2wyld_mutationSep 08, 2008 11:35:34 | Perhaps it chould replace a class-derived utility power? According to the dragon article that is going to be the "usual" course of action. Charisma 17 would be better themed in that you're really beautiful. 15 is passable regardless. Didn't even notice this thread. I think the word "Fey" just kinda made it disappear from my view. |

I've not thought of doing it that way. hmm. I just went with what I did because of the Channel Divinity Feats. I wanted it to be availible to non warlocks or charisma classes as well. (Which a 15 is fairly easy to get as a tertiary score) however for a character where it's not important at all they probably wouldn't bother with the feat in the first place. If that made any sense. I also look at it from the "charisma is a dump stat" for so many classes which means unaltered and unhelped on average it's going to be a 13, at epic or a 15 with the aide of a racial bonus. |
| #4wyld_mutationSep 08, 2008 11:46:40 | Well, 15 definitely works. However since only character who are going to have a "Charisma Primary" will really want it. So upping it prevents a "Charisma Primary" with getting away with little in the way of costs. |
| #5alumanSep 08, 2008 13:27:59 | In long and short, its tad too powerful. The Eladrin or Elven (Or Half Elven) rogue now has a way to blind his opponent with (save ends) on it. Blinded * You grant combat advantage * You cannot see your opponents (they have total concealment against you) * You take a -10 to perception checks * You can't flank an enemy. Total concealment = -5 to attack rolls. So what this does for a rogue is grant at least one round (usually more) of sneak attack. For Defenders Assuming a 50% hit both ways, your chance of being hit drops by half to 25%, while your chance to hit increases to 60%. If it only lasted until the end of the next turn it might not be So bad. As it is, all classes the rely on Charisma even partially (Warlords, Warlocks, Rogues) have no real reason to be any race that can't get this feat. |
| #6Cpt_MichaSep 08, 2008 13:46:03 | Thanks. Fixed it. http://naegunfael.proboards61.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=feats&thread=156&page=1 |
| #7alumanSep 08, 2008 14:00:58 | Much better, still very strong (A round in which the bad guy can't hit, and you have sneak attack) but no longer overpowering. |
| #8Cpt_MichaSep 08, 2008 15:03:05 | Much better, still very strong (A round in which the bad guy can't hit, and you have sneak attack) but no longer overpowering. Well when I first made it I figured "If the DB gets D10s on his racial, and the Orc power works the way it does" it might be powerful but then most racial feats seem pretty up there to me |
| #9alumanSep 08, 2008 16:50:16 | Yeah, I think its fine, might be a bit under powered depending on the GM and the amount of tremorsense used. |
| #10Cpt_MichaSep 09, 2008 7:25:35 | Yeah, I think its fine, might be a bit under powered depending on the GM and the amount of tremorsense used. I hated that about the last go. Everything you would -want- to use invisibility on it either had true sight, blind sense, blind sight, tremorsense or some variation there of *L* I'd keep that sort of thing to a minimum as a Dm against my players. I should have some more Fey Feats made soonish |
| #11alumanSep 09, 2008 11:47:06 | I always hated it too, Invisibility stopped mattering by level 9. And blinding was useless about the same time (which was ok I guess as Glitterdust was a bit overpowering). |
