Because the magic of the fey pact comes from the Noble Eladrin themselves (probably). Well, details aside, the intent of this feat is to allow Eladrin to be really rocking fey warlocks, and use the powers of the fey pact as if they were innate or learned powers (not ones they had to bargain for).Feypatron's BirthrightPrerequisite: Eladrin, Warlock, Fey Pact class feature Benefit: You may use your Intelligence score in place of your Charisma score when using Charisma-based Warlock powers. As it stands, this is not an incredibly powerful feat, IMO. The "real power" of the feat is that it allows your "secondary" stat to be as high as your primary stat, and to me, that is not a real issue. Mind, that is not my intent of this feat; simply a momentary side-effect. PEACH |

PEACH The real power is not that your secondary is as high as your primary, the real power is that your secondary IS your primary. You can buy the 18 Int and be completely set for life. Hey, you could even grab a good Con and take some of those powers. It'd be a lot better balanced if you just gave Eladrin +1 to hit and/or damage with powers tied to the Fey Pact. |

And you can't determine which powers are applicable by a feat based on the flavor text... So yeah. What if I added the line "If you do so, benefits of that power which already depend on Intelligence instead are determined by Dexterity." I think it is clear what I am getting at, but I wonder if 1) this is a reasonable solution and 2) if the wording is clear. My thought is that the character might be then "gimped" in their defenses. But considering that the character in question already has their two main ability scores boosted by their race, that they will still have some points left over for Con or Cha (or Wis o.o). |

To make this equivalent (and, in theory, balanced), you could go with something like: Feypatron's Birthright [Revised] Hm. The Tiefling one is even an untyped bonus (so I left it as such here). I wonder if that will get errata, or if it was intentional (stacking with other, element-based, damage boosts). I'm not sure if Int is the proper prerequisite - Con may be in order (as a stat that Feylocks normally don't benefit from). |
