Here's an idea for a feat which might help them keep up with medium-sized characters. Forceful Swing Prerequisite: STR 13 Benefit: When wielding a weapon with the Versatile keyword in both hands, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls in place of the +1 you would normally gain. This bonus applies even if you're a Small character such as a halfling. Does this look good? Giving out a feat that increases the bonus for wielding a versatile weapon to +2 and allows Small characters to take advantage of it would, for instance, increase the average damage of a bastard sword to 1d10+2 (3-12 damage), which is more comparable to the damage of a Fullblade (which also has high crit, so it still has its uses). If a versatile weapon is treated as a two-handed weapon for all intents and purposes (for instance, when using Barbarian powers), then this should help to even the gap a bit. |
