Hello all,

During the 3.0 era, one of my favorite modules was The Forge of Fury; I believe my group and I ran through it about three or four times. Part of the theme of my campaign for 4e is bringing up a lot of throwbacks from ten years or when we were first starting to play D&D. That said, I want to convert Forge of Fury to 4e so I can run it for my group, which I believe they will greatly appreciate.

Has anyone else converted the 3e modules? What was your experience doing so? Was it relatively easy or were there things that you got hung up on? Any feedback or advice would be appreciated.

I don't have any conversion experience, so I can't give you any tips, but I'd love to see what you come up with. The Neverwinter Nights Forge of Fury mod was one of my favorites from the early days, although I never played the PnP version.

Good luck!

I have little to add to this matter except that I misread the title and all three mentions of Forge of Fury as Forge of Furry. I feel disappointed and moderately ashamed.

That is probably the best response I could have hoped for.

Well...actually I am working on a major conversion of Forge of Fury at the moment!

I'm doing it from the persepctive of using Forge as the basis for an adventure in an ongoing campaign, so it is quite heavily modified, including a completely different plot and whole new sections, including: defending Winterhaven from an attacking army of orcs (I'm running it as a follow on from Keep on the Shadowfell) and travelling across monster infested wilderness to get to the dwarf-hold (basically a skill challenge with embedded tactical encounters).

So far I've completed the linking scene from KotSF, the battle of Winterhaven, the overland journey, most of the environs of Kundrahar (as I'm calling the mountain) and most of the Mountain Door (heavily modified), complete with new maps and battlemaps for each of the encounters (including the Winterhaven attack, and the various encounters en-route).

Although I'm running this as a homebrew adventure (and so have plagerised, I mean been inspired, from all sorts of sources) I've tried to challenge myself to write it as a professional product so it features glossy maps and encounter tokens, nice pretty formatting and plenty of scripting. Eventually I'll share it with the community, but as I've put a load of work in I'll give it it's own thread. I'll post a link when I'm done.

Good luck with your conversion if you are intending to do one, and I'd be happy to chat about ideas. I'd also be grateful for some playtesting or general critique if anyone is interested in seeing a preview.

Cheers,

Lionshanks
