Post the humorous gag items or cursed items that you've come up with for yourself or for players. Thought I'd share some gag magic items I came up with (I gave them as loot, didn't really concern myself with prices). None of these are intended to give any hard mechanical bonuses, just to give my players something extra to fool around with until they got some real magic items. Bookmark of Reading Not only can it help you read while driving a cart, cooking, or even while fighting- it can also help you remember your place in a book. Wondrous Item Property: Aids reading by clearly enunciating each word on the page it is placed upon with a pleasant female voice. When it reaches the end of a page, a bell chimes softly somewhere nearby. Hat of Changing A useful accessory for the vain or fashion-conscious. Head Slot Item At-Will, Free Action, Polymorph Effect: You change the hat's appearance into that of any other kind of hat. Mirror of Grooming A mirror frequently given by worrying mothers to sons who go off adventuring. Wondrous Item Property: Shows the user what they would look like if they took better care of themselves, got a haircut, and put on some nicer clothes. Dice of Rolling The result of a failed attempt to enchant a set of dice to constantly roll high. Wondrous Item Property: Once rolled, will roll perpetually until intentionally stopped by their owner's hand. Magic Paperweight A cheap gift frequently given by people who find themselves needing a present in a hurry. As an aid to arcane focus, the best that can be said is that it's better than nothing. Implement, Orb Property: Provides a simple answer to a question when shaken, extolled in a booming ominous voice. Is sometimes rather inconsistent about what it considers a 'shake'. The last one was my favorite, whenever the party's wizard would roll a 1 or fail a stealth check miserably, a booming 'ASK AGAIN LATER' or 'SIGNS POINT TO YES' would echo through the room.
