I like this idea, and I like the idea of giving the players a small benefit for flavorfully describing their weapons. When I was thinking of how to do it, I came up with this. When a player flavorfully describes their weapon, the DM may decide to give them one encounter power suitable for that weapon. Example encounter powers follow: Shotgun Blast Requirement: Shotgun style weapon Encounter*Physical, Weapon Standard Action Close blast 5 One, two, or three creatures in blast Attack: Weapon modifier vs AC Hit: The closest target hit takes 1[W] damage, and every other target hit takes half damage. Special: This attack uses two uses of ammunition. Gangster Style Requirement: Pistol style weapon Encounter*Physical, Weapon Standard Action Range Weapon One creature Attack: Weapon Modifier vs AC Hit: 1 [W] + Weapon damage bonus Physical damage, and make a secondary attack Secondary attack: Charisma vs Will Hit: Charisma modifier extra damage Spray and Pray Requirement: Automatic style weapon Encounter*Physical, Weapon Standard action Area burst 1 within 10 Each creature in burst Attack: Weapon Modifier -1 vs AC Hit: 1[w] + damage bonus physical damage and the target takes a -1 to attacks until the start of your next turn. Special: This attack uses two uses of ammunition Careful Sniper Requirement: Rifle style weapon Encounter*Physical, Weapon Standard action Range weapon + 5 One Creature Attack: Weapon Modifier vs Reflex Hit: 1[W] + damage bonus Physical damage and the target takes a -1 penalty to AC until the start of your next turn. These are all gun examples, but it's equally easy to make it for melee weapons. Here's one example: Home Run Requirement: Bludgeon Style Weapon Encounter*Physical, Weapon Standard Action Melee Weapon One Creature Attack: Weapon Modifier vs AC Hit: One weapon + damage bonus Physical damage and the target is pushed 5 squares. These are powers that would add a bit of fun to making usique weapons, I believe. It's not too difficult to think one up, either. What do you think? |
