So I am planning to start a campaign soon, and in this campaign one of the players is playing an Eladrin. We have already discussed this, and the player would like to have been forcibly removed from the Feywild which is what places him in the starting town, alone and unaware of his surroundings.

My question to you is, what kind of situations can occur that would cause this kind of forced transportation? Was it a natural ocurrence or something more sinister? Why doesn't he just jump on the next train to the Feywild?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Well, I can imagine that trains to the Feywild would be pretty darn rare.

How would I do it? Well, since I like to add in a little comedy, I would say that he was part of some kind of Eladrin puzzle-game... Think something like a hedge-maze in the feywild that the Eladrin play to exercise their minds and bodies, and it would involve some teleporting, since they can do that naturally. Well, things in the Feywild haven't been the same since [Insert potential plot-clue here] and some weird stuff has been happening. However, these games go on all the time, so why not have fun with it, right?

Well, our friend the Eladrin used Fey-step-

-And appeared twenty feet above the surface of the village. He falls and injures himself (obviously) and the villagers say he's lucky to survive. This could really confuse him, as now he's being taken care of by the villagers (depending on how open they are to someone just randomly appearing in the sky above their town and raining down on them like a ton of bricks) or they could be hostile and overly suspicious of him.

That's basically how I started my best 3.5 campaign, and it worked wonders for my players back then.

Thanks, that's a pretty cool idea.

To get out of the Feywild, you'll have to just get out of the game and reload at the most recent save point. I know, not putting a save station in the Feywild itself is the worst bit of game design I've seen in a long time, but the rest of DnD4 is pretty good, so I recommend playing through it anyway.
