| #1thebilliamApr 11, 2011 21:18:31 | So i am working on an idea for building an adventure. My concept is the daring pirate captain Fluorine has taken the largest statue in the world. This statue would be in the shape of a human male( the human part is not important i just want to keep it bipedal). If has been missing for 2 years. No one knows where it had gone until recently it has walked into towns and pirates have poured out to raid the towns. They strike about once a month and authorities have found a pattern. They are building a army to stop them. I want the PC to fight their way to the top of this thing. I will let them start at the foot and work up from their. I am thinking the statue is around 300 feet tall and can walk because of stolen enchanting artifacts. I am looking for 2 things: First is there a good model for a pirate NPC boss like figure. I would like the PC to only bloody him and he runs to fight another day. The PC will be around lev 3-4 when they finish what they are working through now. Secondly i need a map. I am thinking i will need to make one but it there is something out there it would be awesome. Anyway what i am looking for is ideas of what the insides will be filled with. This is a pirate city that will be mostly empty with most of them fighting outside the statue. But what should piratetopia look like? Any feedback? |

The captain is around level 10, so you should probably downgrade him a bit for your PC's (use the "lowering a monster's level" rules in the DMG to bring him down to lvl 6 or so for a tough, but beatable, boss fight). Pirate town should look like Tortuga, as it was portrayed in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Crude shacks, filthy taverns, dozens of boats and ships in its hidden cove, and a dagger in every pocket. |

It shouldn't be that much of a challenge to sketch up a 'statue map' and set climb test ratings. I am not personally familiar with any such map, prexisting. |

From what I have worked out the statue is going to be hollow much like the statue of liberty. With in this statue will be hundreds of pirates. They will be living within the statue most of the time. So I am planning on having it be much like a city. Just like a cures ship is much like a floating city. My rough thoughts are that it will be smelly and smoky since there will not be great ventilation. Also the city will be many leveled since most of the space is high not wide. Also if the PC take too long i will have them stuck on this statue until the next time it opens at a "port". |
