God of War's Kratos as a Villain (potential spoilers)

I'm running a limited campaign (21st - 30th level) in which the PCs are champions selected by the gods to avert a cosmic disaster. That disaster is that Kratos, after killing all the gods of his world, has now ventured into other worlds to kill their gods as well.

I'm planning to build him as a solo soldier. If you've played the games, you know that Kratos ends up with a staggering array of powers by the end of any given one. Here's the mechanic I'm planning to use to keep it simple to track as a DM:

Relics (see below; recharge 5-6)
Kratos uses one of his special relics. When this power recharges, he can use a relic again.

Head of Medusa (standard action)
Close blast 3; +x vs. Fortitude; target is slowed (save ends). First Failed Save: Target is immobilized (save ends). Second Failed Save: Target is petrified and takes a -5 penalty to saving throws (save ends).

Head of Helios (standard action)
Close burst 2; +x vs. Fortitude; ndy + z fire damage and that target is blinded (save ends).

etc.

How does that mechanic sound? What other powers do you expect Kratos might get in GoW3? I'm planning to let Kratos kill Vecna before the PCs can stop him. What kind of power would he take from him? What kind of powers could he get from other D&D gods/demons if the PCs fail to stop him soon enough?

Sounds like a good mechanic, it's actually present in some other monsters already (like the Beholder, for example)

As for what powers he'd get, I have no idea.

Without seeing much for the third game yet, after the first two I'd say it is safe to assume that his powers will include one at will range, a AoE Encounter Power, and a sort of buff....It seems like a really good idea.  If you are using the standard D&D world you could always tie Kratos in with the Primordials, perhaps they brought him over to kill the gods...anyway... Will you be giving him a spiked chain as the base for his weapons, or homebrew those also?

I think he needs an at-will ranged (5 maybe, although for a solo I could justify 10) that uses his chains to pull the target into melee.
