Grouping Weapon Proficiencies?

With the release of the 4e Adventurer's Vault, I'm pretty excited about giving players access to some of these awesome weapons. I am, however a little concerned about the kind of sacrifice players will have to make just to use them, as most of the new weapons are in the Superior category.

Would it be crazy to group weapon proficiencies into clusters that one could feat into?

If it's a good idea, what groupings would you suggest?

Yeah, it's a little high-powered that way. They're all worth the cost of the feat. They're the sort of weapons you really need to think about before investing into them. They're just that good.

Don't forget about retraining, though. If you want to introduce several of these weapons just so your players can try them out, have them just take one feat, say for the fullblade, and introduce that weapon for the course of a level. Then when they're about to level up, introduce another weapon, for example the mordenkrad, and they can retrain the fullblade proficiency into a mordenkrad proficiency.

I agree that grouping them would make them overpowered, especially as more and more weapons are released (as is bound to be the case). And really, each weapon is a much more formidable version of a military weapon, thus well worth the individual feat to be able to use it. My opinion, it's fine the way it is. You get so many feats in 4E anyways...
