Alright, so it may sound weird, but I've had the thought bouncing in my head ever since seeing the Dragon Article for the Familiars.  Don't know why, but the idea of guardian angels for divine characters just made sense.  Little creatures that are mostly meant to keep in the background and provide protection and benefits to the character.

So I started developing the angels for divine characters, which basically follow all the same guidelines as arcane familiars but are in essence different.  My thought on them is that instead of just exact copies of familiars with divine flavor, that they function slightly different.  For starters, the idea of the angels is that passive mode is where their real benefit comes from.  The reason for that instead of just keeping with the familiars form is that the whole idea of guardian angels means they help from the background, in secret, etc.  So gaining a nice benefit while in passive mode made sense.

In general the passive powers of the angels are meant to be immediate reactions and interrupts though probably wont be limited to those.  Angels also have Constant benefits along with Passive benefits and Active benefits.  They differ from familiars in that regard, and while in Active mode an angel can't use any Passive benefits.  Anyway I only have two angels made up so far, but want to work on more.  Figured I'd do one for each of the gods, like the channel divinity feats, and so on and so forth.

Angel Modes

Switching Modes: You can switch your angel between passive and active mode by using a minor action.
Passive: A passive angel is on your person, perching on your shoulder or a faint glow behind you. In this mode, it shares your space.
No Targeting: A passive angel can’t be targeted by any effect.
No Damage: A passive angel can’t be damaged by any effect.
Passive Power: While in passive mode you gain access to the angel’s power. When an angel uses this power, it automatically switches into active mode as a free action and cannot be changed into passive mode until the beginning of your next turn.

Active: In its active mode, an angel is not on your person, and you can move it around. It takes up the space of a Tiny creature.
Movement: An angel has a speed and movement mode. By using a move action, you can move your angel its speed.
Range Limit: Unless otherwise noted, an angel can’t move more than 20 sq away from you. If, at the end of your turn, your angel is more than 20 sq away, it teleports into your square and enters passive mode.
Actions: An angel can use skills and take actions as normal, but you must use the relevant action to order it to do so. Your angel does not have its own set of actions to use.

Angel Descriptions

Constant Benefits: An angel provides you with these benefits as long as it has at least 1 HP, regardless of its current state.
Passive Benefits: An angel provide you these benefits as long as its in passive mode, and has at least 1 HP left.
Active Benefits: When your angel is in active mode, in addition to being able to take actions as described above, it provides its active benefits.  While in active mode an angel cannot use any passive benefits.
