| #2mhbjarkistefNov 03, 2011 8:24:18 | I haven't read your post yet, but have you looked at the Arcane Archer (Warlock) here on the forums? It's a complete class with builds, PP and ED, feats, pictures and everything! |
| #3alitainNov 03, 2011 16:58:26 | Didn't read through all the powers and such, but there was one thing I was curious of. What's the deal with Runic Weapon? You take a ranged weapon you're proficient with to make into the runic weapon, and can use it as an implement. On top of that you don't provoke OA when using ranged attacks while in melee. That last part alone is really nice by the way to just have as a class feature... But then you say counts as a rod or wand but not both. So does it also say count as a crossbow? Or do you now have a crossbow that can only count as a rod or wand, thus making it so you can't take crossbow feats because it no longer counts as a crossbow? Or is it just that on top of being a crossbow it can also count as a rod or wand, gaining if any benefits from being either of those? That part is confusing. And then you turn around and make it so despite it apparently counting as say a rod, it can only be enchanted like a weapon. So I guess that may support the interpretation that the crossbow would also be a crossbow/rod, instead of a crossbow that can only mechanically count as a rod. But it still is awkward and unclear, and doesn't make a lot of sense as to why you're go through this trouble. Why have it count as a rod/wand? I assume this is for multi classing purposes but I don't know... So I would suggest either making it more clear, or changing it depending on your purpose for having the weapon count as a rod/wand in the first place. Otherwise just a friendly suggestion to clean up your post. Sadly the stupid forums does this all the time especially when you're trying to copy/paste text in but it's all stretched out and such. Would make it easier to read and scroll through if you cleaned it up. And if possible use those spoiler boxes for feats and powers. No idea how to do them myself but you can probably find out, may help. |
| #4rampantNov 03, 2011 17:12:41 | [spo iler] insert message [/spo iler] Do that without the space between the o's and the i's to make a spoiler button. Ok what exactly are you trying to build here because it seems a little all over the place. Non of the powers have levels, so is it supposed to be an essential's class? Also I'd advise against the rune keyword as the rune priest relies upon a similar keyword. Is this supposed to be a nova striker or a high damage every hit striker? (most strikers fall somewhere in a range between these concepts with original assassin and slayer being the closest to the respective extremes) |
| #5alitainNov 03, 2011 19:23:08 | Hey rampant thanks! I've always wondered just never got around to finding out how to make spoilers so now I get to learn something. |
| #6Mythril_SageNov 04, 2011 16:30:52 | I would suggest basing the class' enhancement on the ammunition instead of the weapon. That way you have more of a Gadgeteer feel to the class. In fact, I would also suggest making it a subclass of the Artificer as it make sense to me flavor-wise. Artificers are known for their magical engineering, alchemy, potions, and runic magic that that they use to aid party members. So, why not have the Artificer be the inventor of guns/firearms in a fantasy setting? The magical engineer and alchemist crunch/fluff of the class fits. |
