It seems a simple task, such as inserting a name change here or adding a bit of backstory to NPCs. I was spoiled by the FR conversion for H1 and H2 because they were so good. They really added to the module and fit it quite well into the setting. I've been cultivating a relationship between my group and the crown of Cormyr. It's a possibility that they'd be asked to track down the outlaw Name Not Remembered and that's how they would begin. I need to add something to the disappointing premise of ghost guy and magic pyramid sitting out in the woods. The adventure setup reads like an episode of the DnD cartoon from way back when. Once you get inside, it's all Red Nails and stuff. |

Anyway, I'm planning to make the prisoner in the pyramid either Gondegal the Lost King or (more likely) Draxius "the Neverdying" who ruled Cormyr for 300+ years from 554DR on. Not sure if he's referenced anywhere else but otherwise he is listed in the list of monarchs of Cormyr in the Grand History of the Realms. I loved his backstory (such as it is) and thought he was perfect. |

I was going to make up a whole thing about "The Butcher of the Stonelands" or some such. He'd be wanted for barbecuing babies or some other atrocity. I certainly wasn't going to leave him as some two-bit hood. How do you plan to hook the characters? My group won't go for stumbling onto an extra-dimensional space that someone left lying about. |

He should be referenced elsewhere on the web (such as Candlekeep.com) if you don't have access to earlier sources. Not seen references to Draxius until the Grand History came out but I could have missed them. he is my preference as the prisoner since I'm setting H1-H3 in 1356 so not much time to build a pyramid for Gondegal really. As to hooks, I'm following on from H2 where the PCs will find a map on Paldemar at the end that shows the Trollhaunt south of the Hullack Forest and the Pyramid in an unexplored area at the heart of the Forest. Paldemar is a Red Wizard serving Orcus who has been sent as an advance agent to stir up trouble in Cormyr. He has also put out feelers to the drow beneath Cormyr but that comes in the P2 adventure. |
