| #1mikroponeSep 17, 2008 22:19:10 | Hey all, I started a thread in the DM section about a player of mine wanting to harvest creature parts to craft in 4th edition. The link to the thread can be found here but I quickly realized that this was a job for the homebrew community. Anyways, here's a quote from my last post. It details what I have in mind for a 'crafting' system. If anyone wants to help build upon this I would be very much grateful for any input, comments, feedback, etc... thanks!

Essentially, they was amulets that derived their power from salvaged creature bits strung to them. One creature's bits could be on the amulet at a time. It counted as an item with a level equal to the creature's, with possible additional properties. For example, a level 2 bandit's ear might make a basic Amulet of Protection +1. A level 3 snake's fangs might make it an Amulet of Health +1. Or, be inventive. A goblin's toes fetish might offer a daily power that grants the wearer the Goblin Tactics at-will power until the end of the encounter. (If creatures had any interesting utility ability of the sort, I liked using that.) As a limitation, the ritual attuned the amulet to its owner, and so they could not be sold or given away for any benefit. Though they amassed a reasonable collection, each person could wear only one amulet per day. The amulet chosen for the day took 5 minutes to begin functioning, so they couldn't wait until danger struck to make their decision. |

A magically sustained dragon's heart from a ritual might be more valuable than a "salted" dragon's heart. If the task is suspended by an encounter, weather, or conditions in the workspace then the product might be ruined. ![]() Good work, I like it. Keep it up. ![]() |
