The party enters a room with a fountain in the center. Next to it are 2 jugs, a 3 gallon and a 5 gallon. You must fill one of the jugs with exactly 4 gallons of water and place it on the scale to open the doors. You must be precise as one ounce or more or less will cause a grid of spikes to fall from the ceiling. This must be solved on a sheet of paper. Not by an intelligence check. |

Jackson was in Central Park. They had to do the exact puzzles to disable the bomb that was in a briefcase next to the fountain of elephants. |

| #5veokMay 28, 2011 20:28:08 | Fill the 5 from the fountain, pour the 5 jug into the 3, leaving the 3 full and 2 in the five. Pour what's left in the five into the receptacle, and then repeat for another 2. |
| #6pruanoMay 28, 2011 20:29:46 | Any idea how solve it? Jug A = 3 gallons Jug B = 5 gallons 1) Fill jug B 2) Transfer 3 gallons from jug B to jug A; jug A has 3 gallons (full), jug B has 2 gallons 3) empty jug A 4) transfer 2 gallons from jug B to jug A; jug A has 2 gallons, jug B is empty 5) fill jug B 6) transfer 1 gallon from jug B to jug A; jug A has 3 gallons (full), jug B has 4 gallons |

Or with two measuring cups and a bucket of water. ![]() |

I fill the jug with my waterskin 8 times. (waterskin holds 4 lbs of liquid = 1/2 gallon) |

They had to do the exact puzzles to disable the bomb that was in a briefcase next to the fountain of elephants. A variation on this has been around for a very, very long time. The earliest I've seen is from 1908, in the Host's puzzle from the Canterbury Puzzles. |
