| #1Greater_LammasuOct 13, 2009 16:02:51 | So i'm thinking of doing a 4ed Haunted House adventure called "The House on Hell Hill". It's about a house that once belonged to a diabolist summoner that was killed by demons in a Blood War skirmish and the players go to the house and go into the cellars that were dug into the hill to clean it out. So not only will it have the ghost of the summoner and his associates but various extradiminsonal monsters like demons and taints. So does anyone have any advice on building a nice varied low level haunted house adventure? |

If the former, pick some freaky-lookin' monsters, mostly brutes and soldiers probably: flayed corpses, pus spewing organ piles, that kind of thing, and make sure you go for broke on the description. If the latter, play up the atmosphere, pick some good ambient music, keep the lights low (but bright enough to, for example, read the dice, of course), and use lots of environmental effects (stat them as traps that cause psychic damage and conditions like daze) and lots of skirmisher, controller, and leader monsters. Or, of course, do both; alternate periods of long build-up with bouts of desperate combat against vile and terrible horrors. |

A door is visible in the reflection to the players right but not there(or is it?) to the players left. It would be more a puzzle element than an encounter. Maybe a big mirror in the attic or basement is needed to complete the puzzle. Good spots for an encounter. Hope this helps. |

These are all incorporeal so it gives them a lot of movement i.e.,through floors and walls.Lot of spot checks.Hope it goes well for you. |

Have shadows been adapted to 4ed yet? |

No, but seriously,I'm sure someone will post a link or some info for you.I wondered what it would be like if Negative energy was sentient and sought out the PCs.Creeping darkness needs more than light to beat it back.Just another idea.Good luck to you. |
