I know this class feature seems unreal and is probably really broken, but know that this is for a one-level adventure, we are all very laid-back and we need a healer. Please don't judge this like it is some would-be official feature. I'm not looking for "this is so OP" or "OMG i would never allow this" but more like "huh, that is an ok idea. Hope your DM allows it. I would however recommend....". :D

I will be playing a level 7 invoker, and we need a healer. What I would really like to do is translate World of Warcraft's Discipline Priest into DnD. This is how the Discipline Priest heals:

"When you deal damage with Smite or Holy Fire, you instantly heal a nearby low health friendly target within 15 yards from the enemy target equal to 100% of the damage dealt. If the priest is healed through Atonement, the effect is reduced in half"

This is what I have so far, and how I got there:

A steriotypical healer can, two times in an encounter, spend a minor action to allow an ally to regain hit points equal to his healing surge value + X, where X is either a number, a die or some kind of bonus. So for a baseline we can assume that a healer can "give" hit points up to twice someone's healing surge value (at least). I used that as my base number for healing done:

My healing surge value = 12
My healing surge value x 2 = 24

A steriotypical combat lasts around 6 rounds (I think). If I were to heal each round through "Atonement" that would mean that those 24 hit points would be distributed equally between 6 rounds, giving me a baseline of 4 hit points per round. This way I can give hit points each round, but in the end i would still be healing as much as a basic leader.

The power reads a lot like a Leader's Daily - by making it an Encounter with a 2 surge cost, you are experimenting a little with those mechanics.

Mathematically, basing it off DPR means you will in practice heal either 0 or 4, and your lookup table won't get much use. Also, healing allies for 1-3 hit points is going to be somewhat limited. Personally, I'd just key it off your hits, or even an Immediate Reaction off any allie's hit

So either "when you hit with an attack an ally within.." or a similar feature to Recovery Strike?
I like that. What about this? Now we are closer to a feature that could be added to any class.

I was looking at a couple of things. Making it a channel divinity power is actually a pretty high cost... Anything else i can do?
