Okay,
So the first dungeon adventure for the new edition and it is bad. very bad imho.

a) A long skill challange which is impossibile to succeed - but it really does't matter cause if you fail, you get a map after a pointless battle

b) stupid battle tactics. Dopplegangers dart out of the wood to attack? well, on the 1st round the party will charge into the woods...
A half-dozen times, you see hobgoblin patrols on foot, but the cultists make so much noise that they are easily avoided in the shadows off of the trail.

Yes, sure, cause all PC's flee away from hobgoblins, and not scream "XP!". why the hell should the party run away from a patrol and not attack? or is the patrol is so powerful? they already defeated patrols earlier...
More examples are there

One person runs off, and the entire camp swoops down upon them. Or they yell for help and more patrols show up.

I plan to use it but completely change the story. I'm really getting into the whole Ashen Covenant/Orcus stuff so I'm gonna make Naarash be demon nobility, but Orcus is the demon prince so Naarash is really just doing Orcus' bidding. They storyline is only as bad as you make it.

Did you read it?
cause its the hobgoblin patrols on the black march road... the road that, guess what? you have an encounter with shadow hounds on it.
So Hobgoblin patrols are not fightable, but shadow hounds are fightable?
This is not inside the camp.

I agree that the plots is interesting and the that background is workable, just the execution is sorely lacking.

Hobgoblins can actually call for help. Shadow hounds can't.
