May 10, 2010 10:42:44 I have a killer story for my players, but there are not enough players to fight in a good combat, so I've decided to turn one of the NPC into a "companion" character. The problem is I suck at making them but what they need is a Lv 3 controller or striker and the NPC I want to fill the slot is a Sahuagin named Hertic because he defied the devour.

What race/class/level are the other PCs? How many are there? Are they super optimized, or really bad at making characters? How do they usually function?
For instance, the Sahuagin Sorcerer would probably not work well in a party with a Dwarf Cleric of Moradin and a Kalashtar Paladin of Pelor.

May 11, 2010 5:31:08 Make Hertic the Sahuagin be a Vengeful Seeker... The primal nature of the class goes well I think with the Sahuagin race. Since Sahuagin tend to live in oceans, seas, underground lakes, and underground caves, that can be the environment that Hertic scours in search of those who would defile it. Hertic could wield a trident as his thrown weapon. You could reskin one of his daily powers as "Spectral Jaws" - like the Sahuagin Priest in the Monster Manual gets. When you are designing the Sahuagin race, I suggest you use +2 Wisdom, +2 Dexterity (makes sense with Seeker, and also if you look at the monster manual entries, wisdom and dexterity are probably the highest two stats on average for all of the Sahuagin monsters). Its special power should be blood frenzy: The sahuagin gains a +1 bonus to attack rolls and a +2 bonus to damage rolls against bloodied enemies. All of the MM Sahuagin have that feature.

Do you need more guidance than this? I could suggest some powers and give you a full stat write up if it would help.

May 11, 2010 6:56:19 as for the party breakdown we have a kenku battlemind, half-orc ranger (Charge based), davea swordemage, and a changeling shaman who dosen't always show. the party is not optimised but have not made bad choices there are level 2 soon to be three so if i make him lv 3 he should last several levels(I do not plan on leveling up this npc)

A full write up would help.
