This was a lovecraft inspired theme i had going that started after reading the starlock article... any ideas no matter how small on anything from villain ideas, to other monsters, or classes for the pc's to use, locations, anything.

I was thinking about using the idea of the gods(Mythos gods) channeling power from the far realm through stars, with a couple exceptions being Cthulhu, Dagon, Mother Hydra. Cthulhu Im thinking of giving a major cult following in a Chult type place but mostly underground with a large shaugin settlement trying to raise their dark god. I was going to lead the adventurers into this using the "Last Breaths of Ashenport" adventure from Dungeon, but only make it just a tad bit more lovecraft.

I was also thinking of an adventure thats kind of like a grand scle version of pickmans model(my favorite lovecraft story). A very rich old money aristocrat who is shunned by the rest of his peers for his macabre art, houses the adventurers who are investigating the dissaperance of the artists sponsor and only friend. I was thinking about using this to somehow get them to ashenport and from there travel by ship stopping at some islands for supplies and adventures until finally reaching the chult like landscape where the an angry god punishes those who kill snakes, and leading from there to the seaside caves the shaugin inhabit. (I havent figured it out from there yet)

There is alway a supply of eccentric nobles with enough money for exotic supplies.
Perhaps Pickman is a wizard and wants to mix painting with rituals. He doesn't show off his art but pays Gold to get supplies for his study.
The supplies start as inconvenient to down right bazaar or morbid. If the players refuse have Pickman threaten to expose the PC's for getting what they find out to be banned goods and force them to do darker deeds.
As they look for rarer materials the locations they go to get more and more unusual as they find that the landscape is turning into one of Pickman's paintings, the world is being made unto the Mythos images.

UA has rules for insanity.

The PCs should be, initially, banned from magic... actually, D20 modern classes would work better for this. You could limit Knowledge(arcana) training.
