I've just started running my group through "Into the Shadowhaunt". They're level two and I've rewritten and expanded the adventure to suit the campaign. If anyone has the time, I'd love it if someone more experienced than me (this is my first time running 4E) could have a read through and see if they could spot any potential problems below.

Long story short, the party are on a rescue mission. Two children, brothers, have been kidnapped from the village where they were staying and the PCs have tracked the kidnappers to a tomb.

I would like to say that I have some experience running 4e but I can't say that and be truthful :embarrass

However from just reading the synopsis you wrote I would say it sounds like a fun and suspenseful adventure. The only advice I have to give really is this: Be prepared for your adventurer's to do the unexpected and be able to respond to it. Finally, be prepared to adjust the power of the opponents and the difficulty of the challenges as need be. You should have a fairly good idea of your player's and their chcarcters abilities but you may find yourself having to adjust things on the fly. Just do so as required and everything should be just fine.

Yeah, I know it's not very helpful but its the best I can offer as I have not had a chance to gain any real experience as a 4e DM yet.

So I ran the first part of the adventure last night, encounters 1-3. The skill challenge worked, the party sacrificing the "maguffin treasure" from the previous encounter without complaint. The next encounter was a little problematic. It went well for the first half of the combat, then the wizard managed to Grease the area behind the barricade. This resulted in ALL the enemy being knocked prone and being unable to get back up which pretty much rendered them unable to fight effectively. This sucked for me, but it also sucked for the ranged characters as they could no longer attack the prone enemy since they were hidden behind the barricade. The third encounter was a little better. Unfourtunatly, one PC failed to beat the Perception checks of the guards with her stealth, and none of the PCs beat the Stealth checks of the guards, resulting in another surprise round. No biggy as my dice rolling on the part of the guards sucked for most of the encounter, the dice rarely rolling above an 8. There was some hiliarity though. One of the rangers has the feat that allows them to ignore cover/concealment and the iron bars surrounding the waste pipe were no obstacle to her (since she could ignore the cover modifer). She twin striked one guard, rolling a double 19 but then managed to roll the bare minimum of damage, twice. The result was a pricision attack, slipping the arrows thru two sets of bars but only managing to knick the guard.

We called a halt to the game when they reached the next room. It was 10PM and after telling the players how many HP the statues had, we decided to start the combat next session instead.
