| #1barnashdDec 04, 2008 2:24:20 | Hey everybody. I'm looking forward to starting a new adventure soon, and I've found the "Raiders of Oakhurst" adventure to be quite satisfying except for one thing: There's too much kobolds! I understand that the adventure is all about kobold raids, but it can get very dull and repetitive when all the PC's fight is kobold minions. My call for help is the following: Can anyone give me ideas on creatures (or even other, non-combat challenges) that may replace or otherwise alter the encounters (ESPECIALLY the parts in the caverns before meeting Blackscale the Dragon boss) in this adventure without making it harder? All I could think about is maybe Ochre Jellies and a strige or two. Any more ideas? I'm planning on DMing in with 3 PC's. The adventure: http://www.enworld.org/forum/4e-fan-creations-house-rules/222233-raiders-oakhurst-reloaded-free-d-d-4th-edition-adventure-ennie-nominated.html#post4123119 Download the latest file which is a combination of all the maps and texts in a single .pdf file. Thanks! ![]() |

Perhaps you could replace some of the Kobolds with Goblins and/or Bugbears (smaller numbers since it is a 1st level adventure). Also, the Draconomicon has some new Kobold creatures that you might consider using in place of the standard kobolds. Creatures that would pick clean the remains of the dragon's victims/sacrifices might also make sense. Stirges and Oozes are good ideas. |
