Grandiose was majorly reworded in an attempt to prevent abuse of this weapon and to show the importance of the freedom of your off hand. Input is still welcomed. Much thanks to urpriest as they are the only person to have given me input since I have posted the full version of this weapon and relating feets.

Weapon proficiency (Will-O-Wisp)

Tier:  Heroic

Prerequisites:  Str 15, any martial class

Gain proficiency with the Will-O-Wisp

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Will-O-Wisp

Superior One-handed melee weapon

Cost: 50 gp

Damage: 2d6

Proficient: +2

Weight: 16 lb.

This weapon is a circular blade that rests around its wielder.  The user only swings the weapon with one hand, the other hand must remain free to keep balance and help guide the weapon. One who has mastered this weapon gains the combined benefits of the sharpness of a blade with the strength of an axe.

Properties:

Grandiose (A grandiose weapon counts as a two handed weapon when a feat or power calls for a two handed weapon. Two grandiose weapons cannot be used together. A grandiose weapon can never be an offhand weapon. If grappling an enemy with your off hand a Grandiose weapon can only be used against the grappled enemy. Two handed weapon feats cannot be used and the weapon damage is rolled at one damage die size lower and as a one handed weapon if carring a shield, weapon, implament, item over one pound or grappling with your off hand.)

High Crit (A high crit weapon deals more damage when you score a critical hit with it. A critical hit deals maximum weapon damage and an extra 1[W] at 1st–10th levels, an extra 2[W] at 11th–20th levels, and an extra 3[W] at 21st–30th levels. This extra damage is in addition to any critical damage the weapon supplies if it is a magic weapon.)

Group:

Heavy Blade (Blades are balanced edged weapons. Heavy blades share some of the precision of light blades and some of the mass of axes. Heavy blades are used primarily for slashing cuts rather than stabs and thrusts.)

Axe (Axes are weapons that have bladed, heavy heads and deal vicious cuts. An axe’s weight makes it fine for delivering crushing blows.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soul Calibur's Tira was the first thing that came to mind with this, I may have to add it to my extensive list of homebrew weapons.

Mechanically it seems fine, and I would definitely keep it 2 handed, else it could get a bit broken.

Yeah, its been like a year since I posted this original. Now its a finished product, or a lot closer to it. PLEASE POST SUGGESTIONS! I put a lot of thought into this and would like to finish fine tuning it. Tell me what you like, hate and everything in between. I need criticism.

You've got the weapon classified as two-handed. If so, why does it need the Grandiose property anymore?

Yeah... missed that when I was doing my big overhaul. Should be one handed. Thanks for spoting that.

Also, is the intent that you can use a Grandiose weapon with an implement in the offhand? Because RAW I think you're still giving people that option.

I had not thought of implements as I am very much fighter oriented in my thinking. I shall have to do some rewording of the Grandiose description.

Just a bump, looking for anyone offering any more input.
