| #1shinobicowMay 14, 2009 5:30:48 | So, i've started work on the campaign world that i have had brewing around in my skull for a while, and i kind of want to do it all! Why not right?! it doesn't have to have a grounds in present fantasy to be successful... i hope. So the setting is called On'gaka. You can find it over at Obsidian portal where i'm updating the campaign setting wiki as i finalize more stuff or simply go there to write down ideas, but the basic gist of the setting is this: Several hundred years ago, the apocolypse was awesome! The Siren's song blanketed the world in noise, causing mass deafness and the creation of zombies driven wild by the shock of the song. Those people who have survived... the strong, have been helped in rebuilding civilization at the hands of an abberant race of benevolent star travelers, the Transcians. This race of small-large headed- green skinned aberrant humanoids, originally gifted the races of the world with technology, which had blossomed and waned over the centuries before being lost with the rise of both the gods and the wizards. Arcane and Divine magic rose replacing the basic ability of humans to raise themselves in power using the might of their BRAINS! The Transcians returned to the world to save the people from the Song with a mighty gift, the persoamp (headphones! gotta love the anime quality of it all). This device, allowed the people of the world to move freely without being hindered by the Siren's Song or risk being turned into a mindless zombie, totally controlled by the terrible noise. The persoamps, while usefull in that the tuned out ambient noise, also allowed for the transmission of sound waves from one person to another, effectively forming a long distance communication device. With the world being a silent place now (movement outside is impossible without the use of one of the persoamps) the people looked to use this quality in order to hear again, and not just hear anything, but hear something beautiful, or terrifying, or stirring: they looked to the bards. Bards from all over the world rose in popularity as their music began to become appreciated by the masses on an entirely new level; they saw this opportunity and with the help of Transcian technology resurrected instruments from a lost era, guitars, bases, drums, amps, microphones, mixers and more. They began to experiment with new sounds and use their musical medium as a place to vent their emotions over the loss of the world and its post-apocolyptic situation. Now, the people of On'gaka have flocked to these bards, forming massive followings of genres to which they hold a particular feeling or agreement with; this began the genre wars, it goes on still... Ok, would love to have some feedback on this so far. Things that will be added and are being written up... Music as a power source. (replacing the bard's arcane source and new classes revolving around it) Science as a power source. (into this will go elements of steam punk and future tech, including mad scientist clasess and gundam-esq robots) I want more, it has to be more crazy and more awesome. I'd love feedback or if you have things that you think would fit in with this system, i'd love to hear them. |

I like the idea; I'm rather fond of anime myself, and it sounds like a fun world to spend some time in. I think you might benefit from a little vaguely Judeo-Christian religious imagery or Aztec/Mayan mythology. And catgirls. EDIT: And a link to your page over at Obsidian Portal. |

That is part of making a campaign memorable, but just the first part :P Now the hard part starts ![]() Sorry about the pic, I couldnt resist the temptation ( I will surely burn in Heck for that now) |
